I wouldn't call it bitter. It's just a cheap blow.. and there isn't any reason for it.

| Poor show from ted IMO.
What's cas got to do with us? Looks like sour grapes I'm afraid.
I also don't think family members should be hired. I'll be surprised if their income is in same bracket as other staff at their level.

| From an outside point of view I would say that the decision to sell Belle Vue and receive part payment up-front (then spend that money) without first securing a viable location within the City is completely ridiculous and akin (in my humble opinion) to putting a loaded gun to WMDC's head and saying "well we've nowhere to play now so you'd better sort it by passing the plans at NM, otherwise it'll all be your fault.
It was completely irresponsible on his part and anyone else who had anything to do with it too.
To put it simply: If someone told you to sell your house, before they had secured somwhere to build you a new one and you knew full well there was a chance you might not get planning permission to build it, plus; potentially making your whole family homeless in the process would you do it?
I know I wouldn't. It was a big gamble in my opinion and a last roll of the dice of a desperate man.
I take no pleasure from the situation as the fans deserve much, much better than where you're currently at but, TR does appear, from the outside at least, incapable of running a SL club (Not saying RW is a better alternative. TR has been found out sooner is all!)

To put it simply
BV was sold under assurances from the leader and the deputy leader that the council were completely committed to Thornes Park. I believe that Trinity had plans themselves which they were persuaded to shelve in favour of becoming anchor tenants at the councils venture in the park. Of course it transpired that WMDC were not fully committed to the development, but only after running up projected costs in excess of £60m and, more importantly, wasting 2 years of valuable time.

| I think our Chairman may have just hammered down the final nail into the Trinity Super League coffin. It seems an ill judged outburst that smacks of desperation. Why be concerned at what Castleford are doing his job is to concentrate on Wakefield Trinity.
I don't understand the 'secrecy' surrounding our supposed Plan B, in light of last week's news would it not have been better to come straight out with a statement along the lines of " don't worry folks, Newmarket may have gone to a PI but we have arranged to use Oakwell/Elland Road (or wherever) until Newmarket is realised."
It would have shown to the supporters that we are organised with a credible fallback position until Newmarket is built. By announcing it to the world it would allay our fears and give a positive message to the rest of the RL community, many of whom would have us fail.
Right now it looks like Plan B is along the lines of " Christ, what do we do now?"
I'll keep watching my team whatever league we are, but I suspect it won't be Super League. I hope to God I'm wrong.

So you thought you would start a thread with a title that 90% of fans, Cas and Wakey mind, don't think is correct and then admit its wrong but leave it anyway.
I think Teds let himself down and not for the first time but starting threads with ABUSE is not the answer.

| Quote: RDM "What exactly is wrong with giving jobs to family members? As a business, WT is smaller than many other "family businesses" where management wouldn't be overly criticised for a bit of nepotism so why should this business be any different?'"
There is something wrong with buying a rugby club with a shareholding reputedly worth around 400K and putting family members in positions they may not deserve to hold in order to draw an income from the club. Over the years, the investment will have more than paid for itself. If the family members were the best people to have in those positions, then of course there's no argument.

That would have been the route we should have gone down

| I understand what you're saying KK but, I just wouldn't jeapordize the whole club on "assurances" from ANYONE, let alone a politician. It is completely irresponsible.
My whole point is that the policy of "assurances" and the like are no way to plan for the survival of a professional club.

| It is so refreshing to see Wakefield fans denouncing these comments. I can only concur with what has been said already. Unnecessary and doesn't bring anything to the table.

Even so the fact remains that if Trinity want to remain an SL club, BV is no longer an option, so in reality is no longer needed.
What isn't clear is where Trinity will play if they fail to win a license next year. Sport England will not allow the pitch to be dug up until an alternative is found so perhaps it will still be available for championship rugby.
