| The reason they tried the short kick offs was to regain possession and therefore they were successful. The reason that they needed the ball was because they were chasing the game due to the fact we had been successful.
It is not really anything controversial just the result of the state of the game.

Correct and that’s my point - good teams don’t need to do it and are more than capable of dealing with it. I’ll have to watch the game again but did any tried come directly from it?
I’m not interested in it because after one game it’s a busted flush for me. Nice thinking by Widnes but utterly desperate imho.

| Widnes really made us look soft on several occasions. 4 x short kick offs, 2 x scores from the acting half back and 2 x walk ins from massive overlaps. A game we never looked like losing though.

Agree about the soft tries and that we never looked in any danger whatsoever.
It would have been great to keep them to one or 2 tries but, it was very, very hot out there yesterday and no real surprise that concentration dipped in the second half.
A good day all round !

If a short kick of does not work out, which is a high percentage of times we are then you are defending a set from near the half way line as opposed to the opponents starting there set between there own 10 and 20m line hence why teams do not do it throughout the game.
A short kick off is a sign of desperation/urgency.

| Placing the final result aside for a short moment, in the view of someone who watches Widnes most weeks that is the first time this season we have really dominated a team as we did so often in patches in that second half.
It really is a concern for Trinity spectators going forward as to just how you are to compete in your final 5 games and for that reason I really cannot see you `Getting of the hook` and escaping the greatly feared Middle eights!
Good from our perspective as I would much rather play Wakefield than Catalan as it stands, I think playing that game again and seeing just how easy you can be broken down the result would be far from the outcome it was on the weekend.

Interesting use of the phrase "really dominated".
You get desperate, chance the short kick of, which worked a couple of times but, your "domination" meant that the second half was 22 points each, which would suggest that, despite having put the cue on the rack, Trinity were equally "dominant".
Widnes will have to be a bit more dominant than that if they ant to stay in SL
I take it that you weren't there, probably saving up to go to Toulouse or Toronto (or Fev) in a few weeks time

| Scouseviking you need to stop digging my friend.
I think the chapelhow brothers along with the rest of the Widnes forwards are still trying to prise themselves from underneath fifita and Paulis size 26 boots. I’m still waiting for one of those blockbusting runs too but it appears the only runs were in their pants during the game.
A hefty penalty swing in Widnes’s favour that last 25/30 helped the score look somewhat less emphatic but the mannor of the victory was still accomplished in the end. Says a lot that the wakey players and the coach were wholly dissapointed with the second half while Cummins was finding some positives.

Your pack struggled to handle Ted and Jay alike whilst they were on the field of play.
A quick check on `average gain` will, I am sure show they out-performed your established `big name` props throughout the game?

How so? I did not see Ted or Jay get dominated in any collision? Just because these two go under your radar does not mean they are not good players. We may be poor throughout the rest of our squad however when these two young brothers have got there chance they have outperformed there opposite numbers quite significantly. And yes "The force" name they have picked up is the from there barnstorming runs they put in, although I did not see any of this on the weekend. Just ask your previous director of rugby who likened them to the Burgess brothers - I don`t think he was too far off with that analogy to be honest.
