| Quote vastman="vastman"Doesn't work like that. You will have to factor in what I imagine will be a much bigger deal for Jowitt and Johnstone from what they were on this time last year. Also Mazive and Batchelor have moved up, yep they will be cheap but it adds up.
Williams, Allgood and Caton Brown are pricey signings and Grix and Wood won't come cheap.
For what it's worth I think we will sign like this....
If we don't keep Fafita then yep another prop looks likely.
Moore you could argue for a like for like replacement.
If we can let A Tupou lose then we will probably get a S/R.
However that for me is where it stops and there are a lot of ifs and buts in that.
I think the key this year is quality and we have to accept that includes TJ and MJ who really you need to treat as new high quality SL signings.
That's how I see it and why I think there won't be many more signings - this squad already has a lot more quality than last year but it comes at a cost and that is a smaller team.
That said I reckon there may be enough left in the kitty for some mid season signings which wasn't the case last season.'"
Yep agree with that. On the bigger deal for Jowitt and Johnstone, can they expect bigger deals, say at the end of the season on the back of their performances, or do they get them when they extend their contracts? say like Johnstone did a bit back, I presume he'd have got a rise then when other Clubs were sniffing around.

| I have read your post but like everyone's it is nothing more than supposition and guesswork. It is possible to argue that Caton-Brown was signed when he was unwanted and suffering with injuries. Grix is the wrong side of thirty with a long history of lengthy injuries. Hirst is new to SL so in order to give himself a chance at this level is willing to sign a one year deal on a competitive rate with a review at the end of the season. Johnson signed his contract before the start of last season before his career really took off. I don't know when Jowett signed his last contract and the other two will not be on high contracts because they are still unproven at SL.
You see how easy it is with supposition to produce a post that proves your guesswork.
With regards season tickets is it better to sell 10 @ £1000 or 1000 @ £10. With regards a rugby club the latter is the better option because it is not just the season ticket but the merchandise you can sell, the food and drink and the impression it gives to sponsors and possible signings.

| Yes Tom extended his contract at the end of July when he was very much in form, (16 tries in 21 games at the time) and a few other Clubs had started to inquire about him. I remember MC talking about at the time somewhere.

| Allgood's CV before he came to Rovers looks pretty good.
Brought in at the end of 2015 by CC but a change of coach at KR and maybe didn't see the best of him this season.
The big thing is, is he's here, played a season and knows what the league is all about.
Think he may turn out to be a good one.
Just need an 'impact prop' off the bench.
As for Kyle Wood, are we taking more than an interest in him as he counts on our 'own' trained?

That's a good point when talking about Aussies in particular.

If we were realistically hoping to land Andrew Fifita, and there was money available, then would it be worth trying to use some of that moeny, to attract a certain young Warrington hooker over.'"
Dwyer is under contract at Warrington for next season, he won't be going anywhere. There's really not much available unless you were to look to Australia, but then that would mean, if Allgood signs Fifita not returning as we'd need the quota space. Wood ain't perfect but he's the best thats available. If he signs obviously!

| Debt Free ? last I heard directors loans were in the region of £ 800,000. That money was paid in by directors before last season just to keep the club running. I imagine that last season would have been another loss making year as our crowds will not cover costs. So either the directors will have had to put even more money in to cover the losses or the SL money is used ie it is not all spent on players. Add to that the many thousands that reportedly have to be spent to get BV fit for next season : floodlights , terracing etc ( remember that Box and his mates will send in the health and safety officer about three weeks before the start of season and instruct them to condemn the facilities again )

| No idea regarding debts but didn't MC Tweet or post last year that he'd thankfully got his house back, which I assumed was saying he/the club had paid its loan off so the house wasn't being used as collateral. You wouldn't thought he'd be putting money into the club in such large numbers if there was no debt to service.

There is debt then there is debt. I don't know where that figure comes from but if you chuck every conceivable historic debt into one and then say that is money owed to the directors then maybe. Of course Trinity is a limited company and as such most of that would be written off if we went bust.
I suspect some of that money was secured but not 800k and it's secured debt that they will have to honour - hence his relief at getting his house off any agreements.
You know belly makes a good point then because he thinks we are a bit slow he massively over exaggerates.
I reckon MC has a fair wedge invested but it won't be that much also I do believe glover is srtill owed some but he won't call it because he dare not.
