As Josh, above, has quite rightly pointed out,the announcement will be on Thursday 5th September. The game against Castleford is due to be played on the Sunday prior to this date - the 1st September.
The announcement will include details of the rebranding as well as other information of interest to Salford supporters.
The decision to do this was made some time ago following information being leaked to the press before the supporters were given the full, factual information.
I believe St Helens,Hull KR,Warrington and Saints have announced players who will be playing in their colours in 2014.
Just shows what tactics they are prepared to use...

Oops. Maybe I need to learn to count/read and use these
So... announced just before we play them,
Means a bigger following from Cas to see his last game (£££ ) and pressure on him to perform. It could backfire but it creates more interest in the last game of the season. Also assuming Chase is one of the players announced.
Salford's change of status next season will be a good thing for the league, stir things up a bit in an important season.

A Cas fan on the Salford forum reckons he's off to Leeds.

He was linked to them last year before we hooked him up with a deal, Aiton when asked always says he enjoys his footy at Belle Vue, I think he'll play out rest of his career here if he doesn't return to NRL.

| I guess that sooner or later, one of these players with value will have to be sold; given all that's happened this year, I think it's inevitable.
I'd rather it wasn't Aiton - in fact I'd rather it wasn't any of them, but since it's not my money on the line, I guess I'll have to live with it.

Of the players touted to be of interest to Salford, if correct, then I would rather keep hold of Kirmond, Smith and Amor (in that order). If our head is turned and we either have no choice to sell because we are skint or somebody makes a silly offer then personally I would look to cash in on Poor and/or Aiton leave before those 3.

| Should have cashed in on cockayne earlier if the offer was reasonable.
Wouldn't sell any of our props as they have been the highlight of the year in the main.
Aiton I would sell if there was a good standard replacement lined up from somewhere.

Wildie.
Oh and I'm also Ok with Trinity selling off some assets to boost the bank balance somewhat. I'd rather they didn't have to, but no player is biggar than the club.

| The reality for Salford is that with the return of promotion and relegation, no side will be willing to sell what are considered to be key players unless the transfer fee is one which is far above the players value to the team.
Smith, Collis, Aiton, Kirmond will not be allowed to leave. It's more likely, Mellors, Washbrook, Wilkes and Lee Smith will be ones of interest to them. They'll pay over the odds for average to poor players because there is so little for clubs to battle over.

| Wilkes would be a good solid interchange prop option for Salford tbh. I'd be happy to see him for another year.
Washbrook - any way we can offload him (in the correct manner) would be great. His defence is good but that's it. The ball nearly always stops with him running it in when it just needs a pass. Tautai and Annakin are more than capable at 13 between them and better options I think.
Could do with shedding a few more fringe players and signing 1/2 good quality players preferably a 6 been one of them.
