| Quote wildshot="wildshot"I remember the excitement when Daley had apparently "signed" for us. That was before the days of internet forums and I never found out why it fell through? Did he break a gentleman's agreement and was offered a better deal back home?
I also never got the story behind the headlines as to why Mark Graham left? It all seemed a bit sudden and I couldn't find any explanation. The fact that he took Brent Todd back with him did ease the blow for me

Anyone care to enlighten me? These thoughts have often crossed my mind for many a year.
'"
I think only Mark Graham knows why he left - it was a quick move back to the southern hemisphere. He looked good at first but didn't seem to want to take the responsibility that goes with the big reputation. Brent Todd had supposedly all the attributes to become a good player but in all the matches he played I saw him break only one tackle -I think the opposing player slipped or had a heart attack!
Out of all that came a shining light in Steve Ella who stuck with the team and had a good season.

| Thanks sandaltrinityfan. I was still a teenager at the time and have been trying to find out what "the truth" was ever since.

| Mark Graham left the club because they got rid of the usless Brent Todd and it didnt go down well with him.Steve Ella said at the time "we dont need them and can do it with out them" and as sandal said he had a very good season.

| I thought Ella's season came to an early finish due to a career ending injury. He was a mighty good player though and great to watch. I remember his warm ups pre-match. He did bigger and better stretches than Russian ballerinas!

| My understamding of why Mark Graham left was because he had 'split' with his wife and he had left his family down under. Basically he was at the other side of the world and missing his children.

| Think Ella buggered his shoulder and went home towards the back end of the season, would love to watch him again, oozed class.

One of the most skillful players I've seen wear a Trinity shirt but I thought he went back to Aus early due to injury and retired shortly afterwards? He had very distinctive bow legs but had a fantastic side step and seemed very quick.
His game against Wigan at home where Wakefield came back from being about 18:0 down in the first half and winning something like 26:20 was a real classic. Graham also had a fantastic game that day and Wigan couldn't stop him.

Played more than 4 for us. Heritage site will know. I'll ask.
One of the most skillful players I've seen in a Wakefield shirt. He really will be in my all time overseas team but as with Parramata I'd move him to centre or Full back to accomodate a less versatile Stand off. (Mr Lewis this time instead of Mr Kenny.

| RE: Mark Graham, I was once at a function and was sat on next table to Ted.I couldn't help hearing his conversation with another gentleman and basically the story was that Mark did indeed throw his teddy with regards to Brent Todd.It appeared that neither Mark or Brent had expected it to be quite as tough as it was when they got here and it wasn't the extended holiday they expected it to be ! Ted did say that they had offered Mark the kitchen sink et al to stay but it seemed he had just had enough and perhaps Mr Todd was the excuse he was looking for ? What Ted had to say about Brent Todd would get me banned if I posted on here ! suffice to say he wasn't the most popular bloke at the club. As I said this was all "overheard" by myself and I never got chance to chat to Ted on a one to one basis. With regard to Steve Ella the guy was a once in a lifetime player, class to spare and would run his blood to water for the team.Whatever the ins and outs, the one constant remains that whilever your a Wakey fan there will always be something to talk about !
