| Quote: GET EM ON SIDE REF "would not call one of the stands modern and do they have the funds to develop the ground yes its better than BV but its still poor when you look at the rest'"
Both stands were built at the same time!
I'm not suggesting it's a nice ground, it's very basic to say the least. However it's surrounded by land and has at least one modern stand offering seats etc. Let's put it this way, I wish BV were as advanced and only required two new stands rather than four. At the end of the day HKR are sat in a ground that will remain there home and be developed. We are sat in a ground no one is willing to develop waiting for a ground that won't arrive in time. Advantage HKR.

| Interesting comments from Salford's new coach, basically saying he's here until he can get a job in the NRL

| Would hardly say the satnds at kr are modern!!! both having restricted views, and agree on the Leeds away end and Bratfud having no covered terracing !as for us at Salford i can understand fans of other clubs having sour grapes with us after the farce of red city developments going bump a couple of days after the last franchises were awarded, and even the most die hard of salford fans would be lying if they didnt smell a rat at the time!

Jeez this is difficult, they were built in the early 90's how modern do you need. Whether they are any good is a different matter. What can't be argued is they are far more modern than our one and only stand that may well have been built when Victoria was on the throne - certainly no later than the 1920's. It has no toilets built in and I believe it doesn't even have proper foundations.

| Add the fact that we have carried out thousands of pounds worth of development at our ground in the last 5 or 6 years compared to what Wakey have done, and there is really no comparison between the two. The same goes for a few other SL clubs by the way.

Technically you are right, but the golf stand where you sit out in the wind and rain AND pay top prices for the privellege?? I'd rather stand up on terraces!!

I agree. I remember getting hailstoned on there before kickoff in 2009. At least when you are stood up you can hop about to keep warm.

| I was thinking more on the lines of new floodlights, east stand extension at one end with the other end ongoing, turnstyles.Granted, the golf stand is not ideal but it is only temporary and considering before we were promoted there was only a pile of mud at that end, I don't think we can be pulled up for that. For what its worth by the way, I do not buy into this ground mallarky, if the team competes, whats the problem? At the end of the day, we are only ever at the place for a couple of hours every week/fortnight, and the sport is not big enough for clubs to justify spending vast amounts of cash on new grounds.

You make a good point about questioning the need for top quality grounds. When all the football stadiums were improved it was mainly due to safety issues caused by the fact that they had massive crowds of up to 20,000 on one terrace. We as Rugby League clubs don't have this safety issues due to lower crowds so there isn't actually a need for super shiny new stadiums although we would all like one.

| Quote: TFC "Everyone should face facts, instead of clutching at straws, I can't wait till this season is over, I'd rather see us beating sides in the Champo than getting smashed by poor sides like Quins and HKR.
However unfair the franchise system is (take your pick of the Crusaders scandals) and no matter how bent and shambolic the RFL are (Loans to other clubs when we got nothing, bending the rules where it suits, or just not having rules there in the first place) won't make a jot of difference.
It's daft to having a pop at clubs like HKR and Salford, clubs that have actually made progress during this franchising process. I just don't see why we should be hung, drawn and quartered at a big press conference (which I'm guessing will be aired live?) and embarrassed when everyone seems to know we are down anyway, it just sounds awfully embarrassing.
That is my main problem here, other clubs around us are making signings for next season, so surely players/agents and clubs know something we do not (as expressed on another thread). If so it just further highlights how unprofessional the RFL are.'"
most sensible post i've read on here for months.

| I think the club with problems may well be Crusaders. If you look at the 'Red Passion' site you will see that the University have bid for Wrexhams ground via the Chairman and the FC are now in jeopardy. The Cru are very much part and parcel in that equation.

I watched us get relegated in the 80's when I thouogh the spell in the lower division would do us good and the 90s when I was fully supportive of the Superleague/ summer concept..
both times were un-mitigated disaster periods for the club... interest and crowds fell dramatically, and the profile of the club fell away in the city... something that has only really started to be addressed this year...
If you are looking forward to a period in the championship starting next year.. I can tell you now!
you wont have many people there with you!

| Having gone through the 2 relegations with Cas, at least we had a confirmed "Win the League and you promoted" scenario. Maintaining the impetus was (relatively) easy for 1 season, but I'm not sure I would want to go through a 3 season stint in the lower league......
