| More to it than just the players being below par, the club as a whole is amateur i'm afraid: from the ground, to the shirt sponsors. That's no disrespect to Carter, I commend him for all his hard work these past few years, getting us out of the red was a task in its self. But it all comes money at the end of the day - he can't pull it out of his backside unfortunately. I wouldn't be surprised if he jumps ship too.
I'm not making excuses for the players, but Wakey can't be the most inspiring club to play for - we use facilities from a team in a lower division because ours are that poor, we have no money, we are constantly favorites for relegation, our ground is falling down etc. True the players should go out there and earn their wages, but chances are we will end up in the million pound game again, or scrape through the middle 8's at best - so why bother until it matters if they don't really give a toss.
In the mean time, lets keep throwing coaches names into the hat with minimal coaching experience: just because they played for us at some point. Or at best John Kear, who many moaned about because it was 'boring one man Rugby'. Then let's sit back and watch history repeat itself.

| Got to agree about the club being amateurish. We have been in Superlague for 17 previous seasons and are still cannon fodder. In all those seasons we have only finished above 8th spot twice and mostly stayed around 10, 11, 12 and even 13, leading to more end of season escapes than Houdini. Dennis Betts said it would be a 5 year plan for Widnes and with good signings it now seems to be paying off for him. We have done nothing like that in nearly four times as long. We have got so used to losing and watching c""p that we think one good game deserves merit. Face it we a rubbish and as a die-hard fan who watched them even when they were in the old Division 2 it pains me to say it. We should start at the bottom, rebuild and come back with a team that can do the city justice.

| The solution is to go into the championship or hope someone with disposable steps in, why is it so hard to see that we are not upto it in superleague we don't belong there, what do we contribute apart from our illustrious history.
Nothing is going to change at this level without cash and if the owners are not prepared to put any in then what do you do, who wants to spend there Sunday watching a team get hammered.
The best thing for this club is to go into the championship let's face it we are a championship club in every aspect we have just been lucky circumstances have dictated otherwise.
So what the players try I can go to any amateur rugby game and watch guys try I pay money to be entertained by athletes at the top of there game.
I struggle to see how anyone believes that a coach be it whoever will make those players able to compete at this level enough to bring sensible supporters back through the turnstiles to witness skilful rugby league.
All we are are a team of ifs, if we held onto ball we'd be if we did t give penalties we'd be, if they stuck in contact we'd be well we are not and we won't be with the quality of men we have on the field, I'm not blaming them they can't help it like I said earlier there not going to not sign a contract.

Well you go and watch Dewsbury or Featherstone then!
If Wakefield drop into the Championship before getting the stadium sorted in one way or the other then we'll almost definitely never see top tier Rugby League ever again.
How is that the solution to our problems?

| Rugby's played in the championship like the game should be played, plenty of passion, hard tackling not short of good bouts of the open game we all love to see , what you very rarely see is one side strolling through the others defence like wakefield fans are used to seeing watching the feeble defence our lot serve up

Like a previous poster said, go and watch Championship rugby theres plenty of teams to choose from. How any-one thinks dropping down a league would help us is beyond belief .

If you were old enough to see them in the old 2nd Division then, like me, I doubt you'd live long enough to see a team rebuilt from the bottom.

| Your in denial we are not upto superleague resource wise so have your fun guessing who the next coach might be, slate fans that have stopped going, keep on looking at the positives and keep missing what's staring you in the face.
At some point enoughs enough and unless someone with cash comes calling then we will either get relegated or be perennial whipping boys.

I'm not sure what you're saying, do you think we should all give up and go down a division and that will be better for everyone? What will be will be as far as where we end up playing next year. We shouldn't dream of throwing in the towel though, or will we. With the illusions that by somehow dropping down a League, that will somehow change anything for the better and we'll definitely miraculously rebuild. It certainly would drastically lower the chances of attracting anyone with money to put into the club.
You do what you want, no one's forcing you to support Trinity, plenty of other things to do with your spare time and money and if you do walk away no ones going to slate you as far as I can see.

| I think the 5 year plan at Widnes has financial backing we can only dream about.

| And in addition Widnes were fortunate enough to be provided with a stadium.
