And it involved input from Savilles and KPMG so these independent professionals will have assessed finances and facilities which were the areas the Halifax Chairman clearly had a go at. I can understand him being disappointed but his comments were bang out of order.

3 years ago Widnes not considered because they went into Administration. 3 years later this was ignored in Wakefields favour, you can see where halifax are coming from.

It should be borne in mind - they've emphasised several times that these licences can be withdrawn any time they choose, so if ourselves or Cas don't put our money where our mouths were, we'll be out and they could get the call.

Best thing is to work with the RFL, not against them, as has been proven in recent weeks/months at Belle Vue it seems.

The simple fact as I see it is Halifax were competing against Widnes and Barrow for a licence. They lost out to Widnes and everyone expected that to be it but they were given a second chance. I suspect the RFL knew Crusaders were struggling and were also keeping a watching eye on how we were going under the new regime and thus Halifax were kept in as an insurance policy.

Halifax clearly would not be stronger than us in the community, commercial or youth development areas (and to be fair you would not expect them to be), I suspect Savilles have seen the plans to temporarily upgrade BV and the NM plans and felt these are suitably strong as well.
