I have it on good authority (my aunty Pams friend ) that Brian Smith was wanted by Leigh. He attended a meeting and asked to see the team sheet for next season and any possible signings. He was told that it would be one last push for promo and the club realised that it couldn't be accomplished with the present set up.
Anyway having viewed the playing list Brian simply said sorry , and the rest s history.

At Bradford BS left the place in good hands with Matty Elliott left to take charge after he did his year.
I would be really happy to see someone else in there, with a few more years under the belt than the likes of Stu Dickens & Lee Gilmour. Not sure who, put just to throw a name out, how about Karl Harrison, who i think BS had at Hull as a player?

I don't know the ins and outs and BS may be really happy with the current set up, but just thinking longer term. Having said that, I suppose as a Wakey fan, i really shouldn't!

When you say "the likes of Dickens" how do you know he's a bad Coach? I mean I don't. I'm not sure how quailfied Elliot was when he took over Bradford but it was his first club.

Good coaches surround themselves with good people. Smith is clearly a good coach so you would have to trust his judgement on relation to who he retains and recruits. There may also be financial limitations on moving people on due to contracts needing to be honoured.

Personally I would like to see Clogger replaced and the conditioning side of the club given a real shake up but it may not be possible or Smith may choose not to in which case he will live or die by his decisions.

One thing is for sure his association with the club should attract a better quality of candidate on and off the field and raise the profile of the club.

I personally dont know how good or bad Dickens is, from speaking to people who have worked with him, he is certainly well thought of by the players.
What i do know is that he hasn't been finished playing that long, and i think we have been bitten a few too many times by employing assistant coaches for the main job before they are ready.

I might be mistaken, but i think Elliott had a few years (possibly 4 or 5??) as assistant coach to Brian Smith before they both came to Bradford together.

Anyhow, Brian could stay for a few years and then this is irrelevant.

Players come to work with coaches they feel comfortable or feel they can improve with,there wouldn't be no Arona or Toupau without BS.

Well I'm sure if BS had the 2012 squad we have finished in th tile eight on merit

As far as I'm aware no Wakey Coach has ever been given the money Agar received from Bogof and his toad
