| Quote The Phantom Horseman="The Phantom Horseman"What a bizarre sentence.
1) You've read in the press that Leigh, Bradford and London are full time so that must mean Fev are too? I'm sure a lot of the Fev lads will be delighted to hear they don't have to go to their day jobs tomorrow morning and can just turn up at Post Office Road instead!
2) You say that Fev were missing " a couple of important players" (3 of our 4 overseas imports plus 2 or 3 others from our likely starting 17 as it happens) and then you say it was still as strong a side as Fev could have fielded?
'"
Maybe those 6 that did not play today was because they could not get time off work

| I thought we played ok in parts today and the score flattered fev. Mr child did his levell best to keep it close three defo try's chalked of and fev scored of two of them.we could of so easily been talking about 50 plus scoreline today.
Johnstone a major plus for me his try which was disallowed was great but the peace in defence to stop a drop out in second half was just as good.

| Quote financialtimes="financialtimes"Disagree with the comment of our forwards just cancelled each other out, we totally dominated in that area, Fev only got in to our half thanks the the skill of Mr Child and his fantastic refereeing performance, we should have had 4 more tries on the board and I hope this isn't an indication of how the season is gonna be refereed. Craig Hall was outstanding and was easily MOM although if Reece Lynne had been allowed his hat trick then he would have run him close, Johnstone took very good and Annakin looks immense this year. As for Fev being part timers, there is enough written in the RL press and on forums confirming that most of the top championship sides are full time so just because they were missing a couple of important players, that was still as strong a side that Fev could have fielded.
All in all pretty happy with the game and performance, just the ref that spoilt a 50+ score line from the trin

Have to agree, though I think Childs was a lesser problem than normal.
When will folk realise SL do not go full tilt in these games though to be fair Fev made them work - in a full game I reckon we would have buried them.

Nowt like trying to kid yourself is there? I know which of the two coaches will be the happier tonight. The game could have gone either way up until the last five minutes. I was in the main stand and the ref's forward pass decisions looked bang on from where I was sitting and the other 'disallowed' try was through a Wildcats player knocking down a Rovers pass...good job he did as Fev were certain scorers. How many Wakey tries were well constructed efforts? Same with Fev.
It was a good hit out and both teams have work to do before the season starts properly, that's what practise games are for.

Give over, I should think Webster is very happy indeed. It was never going both ways Trinity always had enough in reserve.
Next time your in the stand Mickey face the pitch mate - there were at least two play ons that should have been given that would have led to Wakey tries and that "forward" pass would not have been given 9 times out of 10. Worst still was the content messing around by Fev at the PTB which was frankly laughable yet Wakey get pinged and you don't - odd.
That said Fev played well which is what I wanted and the gulf between SL and the rest is getting ever narrower which again is good - why not leave it at that.

Well I'm sure the two sides will do battle again at the end of the season so it'll be interesting to see the outcome. I can't think that Webster will be that pleased if, as you seem to suggest, Wakey just did enough especially as he'd demanded so much more from them after the Leeds debacle according to his words in the Express. How many well constructed tries did they actually score against an under strength Championship side?
One last question.....what exactly had the Ref to gain by being more lenient to Fev at the play the ball or in any other aspect of the game?

It would seem you are correct about the coaches. My take is i don't pay a great deal attention to friendlies early on in pre-season, the performance yesterday might not of been the greatest but it was better than boxing day and it was the first hit out out for some guys and they'll be better for the run. I would like to see a more complete performance for the game in a couple of weeks against Hull which is more likely to be a game played as a true trial, with less subs etc. That will give us a gague where we are.

| Looks like I was watching a different game to everyone else again yesterday. I though Miller showed up really well and supported the runner on numerous occasions, taking a couple of really good offloads.
He's not the same style of player as Sammutt but that doesn't mean that he shouldn't get picked ahead of him.
To me it's a tough choice that I would make on a weekly basis depending on who the opposition are. Sometimes we will need that steadier influence that can do the little things well and help Tim Smith run a game, and sometimes we will need a bit of maverick play to break defences down. It's just a shame that there isn't more space on the bench.
I think we've got plenty of talent available to us, we just need to utilise it correctly. It has to be the best position we've been in squad wise for a long time.
