Shame, shame, shame!
Precisely. The club is losing genuine supporters over this and yet nothing seems to be done.

Quote: wrencat1873 "Although it may not suit everyone, it would be far easier to say that no food or drink can be brought into the ground.
A simple rule that everyone will understand.
Whilst this would mean that people wanting to eat and drink inside would have to buy at inflated prices, this would be crystal clear.
I would exempt babies bottles, but at least folk would know where they stand.'"

You might just find that it is not Belle Vue many are standing in then. I really don't think giving people another reason not to attend is the wisest move.

Spoke to someone in club shop yesterday as I had seen a steward on Doncaster Rd turnstiles taking a water bottle off a fan. There were several plastic bottles thrown on floor. Girl in shop could have passed message on but said I had to email club.

tHE ONLY DRINKS NOT ALLOWED ARE ALCOHOLIC DRINKS. No problem brining drinks or food with you to the games.
Open bottles may cause concern.
Its a stupid suggestion that because someone doesnt, every one else should follow.
If supporters have had a problem they should inform the club.
I thought the club had made an announcement .

The club had made an announcement, but they were still taking water bottles off fans.

I walked in to the ground yesterday drinking from a bottle of water, I got a look out of the corner of one of the stewards eye, but no comment, I came in to the ground through gate 17 in the north stand.
There does seem to be an inconsistency as I am aware of other people being told they couldn't bring their bottles in, but I did see people drinking from cans, smoking cigarettes and e-cigs in the north stand, so maybe the stewards would spent their time more productively whilst policing the stands rather than causing animosity outside the gates.
BTE=W I have just emails this exact statement to the club icon_thumb.gif

Quote: Theboyem "I know of one long term supporter who was refused entry yesterday with his bottle of orange cordial by one steward, something he has taken in most weeks for more years than he can remember. He went to another gate asked the steward there if it was ok to go in with it to which he replied yes. The gentleman entered the ground. The original steward spotted him in the ground with said bottle shortly after kick off and proceded to frog march him out of the ground despite it being ok'd by his colleague. The fan, a guy in his late fifties who attends with his wife, brother and sister in law is so disgusted at his treatment he will not be returning anytime soon and neither will any of his usual party.'"

I know of one gentleman who was removed from the ground, his family extends to 8 regular attenders. has the potential to be expensive for the club.

This HAS to be sorted

Just a bloody mess. I can only think this is now down to the security company not getting clear message across to its stewards. When is their contract up. If and when get rid.

Shame, shame, shame! Sorry for been so out of order on this forum In just happy with 5 points out of the last 6 and the direction our great club is heading. I never have any bother with the stewards because I don't take my own drink in its against the rules like most sports stadia. Maybe we've been abit lax over the years letting people bring their own drink in but we are now catching up with other sports venues. If some fans don't want to come to Belle Vue because they can't bring their own drink then so be it club rules are club rules. Sorry for been positive and not joining the moaning brigade but if you told me pre season that our biggest problem come July would be bottles of diluted orange, I'd be more than happy.
I have got a little moan though, them away fans need educating in using the right lane by the Charlie Brown traffic lights on the way home it's frustrating seeing them use the lane for town then indicate right while I've been queing patiently.

Totally with you on this one M62. Of course Wakefield want people to spend money inside of the ground - makes sense. It annoys me when I see so many outside Conservative club spending money which could be going to club. If there are some heavy handed stewards then they do want a word with. However, I have always found them polite and helpful. Another positive is the attitude of the staff on the turnstiles who make a point of saying Enjoy the Match to home and away suporters alike. Well done.

No need for this, your a good poster and should be enjoying the results we have been getting lately - as should we all. - and that is the point. Something has changed, either the rules, the interpretation of them or the application of them. Whatever it is there seem to have been some mistakes made and some lack of diplomacy on the part of some. I don't much care for stewards generally - they have a job to do, but many either lack the knowledge or the wisdom that is required in their dealing with customer, resulting in unnecessary friction involving some genuine supporters who have done nothing more than attend a game of RL to support their own club. I find this all very sad and devisive at a time when the club needs us all to stick together!
