| We need to spoil Sky's little party by beating Widnes home and away which just happens to be 1st and 2nd last fixtures of the season. I'm sure the sky commentary team will have thier claws out quoting bull , instead of doing their job and commenting on the action only. Eddie and Stevo need to be retrained by the BBC or retire,TV viewers are fed up with politics and just want to watch the action.

With the Leeds game being postponed due to WCC our first 3 games are going to be Widnes away, followed by Hull KR and Bradford at home.
Hopefully that will give us a chance to get 1 or 2 wins early on in the campaign which should be good morale/confidence booster.
I know people will say don't count your chickens just yet but these 3 fixtures (the new boys, plus 2 mid-table sides at home) are ones we should be looking to get victories in.

| as widely predicted, we are set up as the sacrificial lambs for widnes' return
this is a very tricky game for us, especially as we have new team as well.
making it as hard as possible for us (additional game to squeeze in in the summer) etc etc.
we might have a place in superleague, but we are not wanted!!!

according to George Riley it is.
I'm the opposite to you miamivice. Rather than thinking we have been shafted I think a week off in week 3 is probably going to be good for us early on. Like you say we are a new team and we will take time to gel and that week off will give us 2 weeks before the Bradford game to iron out any issues that may have arisen in rounds 1 and 2 as well as giving the players a more staggered introduction to the stresses and strains of weekly super league. Realistically, if things go to plan and we have anything about us at all, we will start to see that mid season. And unless Leeds or ourselves (or both) are going to Wembley, we will have a spare week or two to play them. That game could well be a good indicator to how we are going and where we might well hope to finish.

| We were set up similarly when Hull KR were promoted. Had Obst not gifted the ball to Hull in the dying seconds, allowing them an injury time score, we would have ruined the RFL's plans.

Yep, horrible end to a great game. 14 - 9 in the end to KR.

| How many times were we on Sky in 2011, because they seem to be making up for it next season? Two out of our first three scheduled fixtures are being televised; Widnes away and then Bradford at home on Sat 25 Feb. These are followed up by televised games away in London (in Parliament Square I believe) in March, Salford at home in April and also the 'Manchester' against Castleford. In all that's five games for starters.
We have a new squad for this season but so have Widnes, so anything could happen in the opening fixture.
I also noticed that we are scheduled to play Wigan away on Easter Tuesday (probably because of football?) so could be another TV game?

Give up! I've heard Saints are to play Manly at their new stadium before Manly play Leeds.

i didn't mean the fact that we have the week off, it was the fact that we seem to be the club that they don't mind messing about.
we have changed fixtures because of the WCC before (as did cas last year), so it should be someone else's turn.
i can see your point regarding the week off early in the season to gel, but that will mean we don't get a week off later in the season when the bodies are bumped and bruised and the players need a rest. (also allows for a family weekend not dominated by the rugby!!)
there is a fair chance that leeds will get to wembley, so we could end up playing midweek.
that, coupled with us picked to visit widnes on the "fake grass" just leads me to believe that we roll over at superleagues whim.

| It's a brilliant opportunity to get some points early on. Widnes are the only other club who will have made as many changes if not more to their squad than us. Plus in Betts they have a coach who hasn't coached in SL for a while and may not prepare them as thoroughly as Agar. The only advantage i see them having is they'll have played and trained on that surface.
Hull KR & Bradford are both winnable games especially at Home and we've a week off due to Leeds' WCC which will be superb to allow the players time to gel.
I'm confident in the squad and coaching staff we have in place, and there's an opportunity to get off to a cracking start. We should be embracing that chance!
