| Quote Sandal Wild Cat="Sandal Wild Cat"I know it's looking that way. But to be fair I think they have begun to open their eyes to the bigger picture.
In truth the only group to do better out of this than the general public of Wakefield is WMDC.
Let's think about what WMDC get out of this project.
1. Increased economic growth to the region of 3%.
2. Increased revenue from the business rates from the businesses which take residence. You could expect this alone to exceed 1M per year.
3. A community stadium (free of charge-with the exception of the land loan which will be repaid in due course).
4. Increased education facilities.
5. The prestige of delivering the much needed community stadium to the gracious people of Wakefield.
When Peter Box gives the announcement in September he will feel like Gaius Julius Caesar returning to Rome. All of this from start to finish will be a product of "his" hard work, but I for one will let him have his moment. He might of joined the party late but it's becoming clear he's come round to our way of thinking.'"
Not to mention (why do we say that?) the development of community sports and leisure facilities that WMDC have been roundly criticised for not providing before.

Arguments from NIMBYs about green belt issues have taken a bit of a pasting, which makes it MUCH more likely that planning permission will be granted.

Cheers mate, I'm not too clued up on all this jargon!
Everyone seems confident now that the stadium will happen, which I'm happy to jump on the bandwagon with. But the point that's nagging away at the back of my mind is that I just can't see 2 new stadiums being built so close together (ie Glasshoughton). I hope I'm wrong, and that someone can convince me that in no way are the 2 projects linked, but to me it seems really unlikely. Can anyone clear this up for me?

The 2 projects are not liked. Castleford's is a private venture that I understand will be owned by Castleford and they have said that they have the funding in place. Newmarket is a Community Stadium owned by the Wakefield & District Community Trust and we will be the anchor tenant. Funding is in place for this stadium.
Looks like we will have 2 new stadia in the district if all that we hear is true.

Looks about right, just what the RFL didn't want, and a few weeks ago what the council didn't want, so now it looks like well done to all parties involved in the stadiums, it's looking more and more likely both will be happening

| This is very positive from the council and hopefully a quick turn around in September and this City will get the stadium and sports facilities that we've been striving so long for. As a local resident on the look out for new employment it will be interesting to see what companies will be moving onto the development aswell

So we could end up with two new stadiums. Would this still mean one of us could get kicked out of Super League or would we both be safe?

Probably both still be kicked out.
I think the worst one out of the lot would be kicked out still. On paper, out of us three that is Salford. However, location and the fact they are willing to spend the salary cap may sweeten the deal for them, which for me, would make Wakefield the most vulnerable for the chop.

Should both be safe, but it's the RFL, they wouldn't get rid of any of the next group after Cas/Wakey/Salford (Bradford, KR, Crusaders & Quins) would they?

RFL can do what they want, but with a fully funded stadium completed in one phase I would be very confident we would get a licence
