Quote: GET EM ON SIDE REF "who took the pass from the Amor break in the 1st half? I had it as 21 the Batley fan I went with said 2 whoever it was he lacks any pace it was try time.

Think the young lads put in a good effort but must say I expected more from Mariano,Ellis,Tony and Wood and I will say it again Raleigh is never a prop and I have real doubts if Wilkes is add Johnson and we have 3 back row forwards in the front row that will be exposed in SL and Agar must address the lack of grunt in the pack
9 first team squad players in today with 3 of our so called front line props who were out muscled to be honest Batley well worth the win'"

it was Matty Wildie who took the pass from Amor and he isnt exactly slow and definatley does not lack pace, these are rugby players not 100/200 meter sprinters the guy who caught him only did because Matty was trying to run round the full back and the player got him running back it was a great tackle. Oli ran the ball in well, the only prop that didnt stand up well was Raleigh who from what ive seen which is only 2 games so not enough to base a proper opinion on him as yet. The rest of the kids did well anyone know who the number 14 was? small kid but had alot of power! hope some of these guys get some time out on Dual reg in the championship and league 1 just for some proper game time not reserves rugby.

Quote: Theboyem "You were correct it was Wildie who made the break. Don't agree with you regarding Wilkes, he's an out and out prop these days and Johnson is getting there but Raleigh i'd definatley agree with. But its fair to say another prop should be a priority becuse of the the back ups Trout looks better it the back row and Spiers looks way off superleague level at present.'"

Like the look of Trout and yes Spiers looks a long way off SL std it may yet come

From what i've seen i'd like to see how Lillycrop and Fletcher would develop with fulltime training. They seem to have something about them.

This is a good honest post because everyone else seems to be using the 'Played the Kids' Card. There were a number of supposed starting players in the side especially in the first half, which consisted of possibly the starting front row and a couple of other forwards, as well as Wildie and Wood and really struggled to penetrate a smaller Batley defence which is a slight concern TBH, although there is still a few more to come in. Dont think it is fair to de value the batley performance as this was a far stronger side that faced sheffield and won.

Never said Amor lacked pace and I have always liked the look of Wildie but at this level Matty should have scored it was a great break and it did expose Wildie for a lack of pace

It's not a card - it's what actually happened.

Think we've got our wires crossed here it was Matty i was talking about not Amor, he dosent lack pace just the Batley player was faster. in fairness to Matty he should have had another player backing him up took a hell of a whack in the second half too. on a different note though did anyone else think the ref was abit shocking?

Think the batley player that caught him was Gareth Potts who was in our academy up til last year.

ok if you say so...we will just pretend there was no Amor, Tony, Wood, Wildie, Morton, Mariano, Wilkes, Ellis, Davey, Raleigh eh....Seasoned full time players.
Get real there was enough quality and experience in that line up, together with some big full time youngsters to beat that Batley side.

In all fairness if most of them had played the full 80 minutes we would have won easily enough. The damage was done in the last 20 mins when all above (except davey and tony) were removed from the game. Biggest loss being Wood he played very well today.

applegarth and henderson potts and moore showed former clubs what they can do wakey got tackled out the game in first half but a really good showing hopefully wilde is ok also batley showed more patience than rather scoring on every attack.

Precisely; for those people who understand the point of a match like this, the above makes perfect sense.
