| Quote TRB="TRB"The letter is written in reply to a request and confirms that Castleford were willing to partake in a feasibility study into the 2 stadium projects in the summer of 2010.
This was at the point when Cas had realised that they weren't going to be able to raise sufficient funds for GH and it was an attempt to re-direct funds from the council and from NM to the GH project. SWAG and the club (Ted at the time) agreed that it was not right to go into this without the formation of strict guidelines beforehand. The idea was scrapped.
RW makes no mention of the suggestion to undertake exactly the same type of process previously, dating back to the early formation of NM.
Whatever his point may be, it beggars belief that a fellow club would involve themselves in a process such as this and it is, as others have said, a very low blow indeed which harms the reputation of himself and (to a lesser degree) his club.
We have known about this letter for weeks but have waited until it was in the public domain before commenting.'"
Are we not offering too much attention to this letter?
Its very appearance is obviously going to cause a stir from a Wakefield/Cas rugby rivalry perspective, but from a political stand point, does it really change anything? It's not like the planning inspector isn't going to be aware of the Glasshoughton development.

Maybe, but as it was intended for use by the objectors in their submission, but now initially raised by Yorkscourts Barrister - Andrew Piatt - in order to allow Sir Rodney to nullify it, then it's intention was clearly to de-rail our proposal in favour of GH.
So in summary, IMO, no is the answer. It's dirty tricks by a fellow member of the RFL and is unprecedented in being a direct attack on the very establishment of competing club. Not on - and, again IMO, an apology should be forthcoming!

Hopefully we have arguments/evidence to counter his claims, but that's not really the point.
He has overstepped the boundaries on this one and should be brought to task.

I agree 100%. This is a political arena whereby his input warrants no need or place. The very fact his name and misguideed optinions are being discussed at all at what is essentially the city of Wakefield's public enquiry is enough to get my goat up. This isn't Wakefield vs Cas. It has bog all to do with his club or his opinion.

Absolutely agree with all that has been said, particularly regarding the concentration of his efforts on our project and not yours....(i actually think this may have rubbed off onto some of our fans too )
I have always said that Richard wright is first and foremost a cas fan and has the best interests of the club at heart(having seen him in action personally)
However i can not condone his actions here, stay out of our buisness and we will stay out of yours should be the party line.

| Even if it was at the request of the objectors and if indeed all it contained was the truthful versions of events regarding the feasibililty study or proposal there of........he must have realised how this would look to the wider RL community and WTW as well.
Quite frankly as a cas fan...its embarassing

Or, you accept a member of the public has written a letter objecting to a development that is unfeasible?
Why should there be 2 community stadiums 2 junctions apart when one of them is seen as more feasible by the council and is in a better location commercially?
Quote TRB="wildshot"I've already written to the RFL asking them to investigate. Wonder if they'll take any notice?
After all we are one big happy family.'"
The RFL probably can't do anything about it, as a member of the public Richard Wright has the same rights to object to any planning application as anyone else.
Quote TRB="irish tiger"Quite frankly as a cas fan...its embarassing'"
Why? As a member of the public is is entitled to object just as much as the members of WAR or whatever they want to be called now...
If it was a statement issued on behalf of Castleford Tigers RL on the other hand, then he will have problems.
EDIT:
Ok, just read a different view on the letter, apparently it isn't an objection at all and it just highlights that Wakefield rejected a feasibility study (true) and are welcome to play at Glasshoughton (again, true) so what's the problem?

It wasn't an attempt to excuse him, at all.
You're launching a hate campaign against a MEMBER OF PUBLIC who is entitled to offer an opinion on ANY planning application.

The classrooms, NHS direct offices, public swimming baths for years it has been a community stadium.
