| Quote vastman="vastman"I recall and I may be wrong that Kear was considered the Hull/Cas reject by many myself included. He didn't gain much momentum until Wiggy and Thicko backed him along with Neil Fox which was the one that really swung it. I wouldn't say he was unpopular but wasn't popular either.
I reckon we have all allowed ourselves to get caught up in our own OTT idea as to what a great club we are. Looking from the outside we must still look a very poor bet especially to the likes of Gentle. Lets face it he isn't going to leave where he is to join a club like us or Cas, there's taking a risk and being plain stupid.
Wouldn't mind eating my words on that last line though

Definatelty, mid table mediocracy/scraping into the play offs on a regular basis is the target for now, or at least it should be.

| Quote fat faced fan="fat faced fan"we should only talk about things that have already happened. i expect to read no futher comments from you on any speculation surrounding potential signings (be they players of coaching/backroom staff), or in threads about how we are likley to perform.
most of the points i made have already happened, so your comment is totally innacurate.
the two other bits of speculation where i asked about what the odds were on certain things occuring, are things that could happen and may or may not be worthy of debate.'"

Totally agree.
We are not a Wigan or Saints or even a Hull. We are the worst team in Super League by a Country Mile. Do we expect every Coach to want to come to Wakefield - I think not. This Club needs turning round and Andrew Glover himself said its a 10 year plan.
Assuming all the rumours to be true we have been interested in Gentle and Millward and who knows who else. It looks like Gentle has pulled out of Castleford and us for the more lucrative job at Hull, Millward has gone to Castleford so who is left ?
Agar would not be my choice, I wanted Gentle but you can't always get what you want in life and sometimes have to settle for what you think is "second best". Its not just a case of "throwing money" at someone, we could offer Gentle (or anyone) a Kings Ransome but if he sees Hull as a better prospect for success (and quicker) and a return into a HC position in the NRL it may not come down to money.
Agar may well be the best of whats left, I have no idea, but our progression as a Club will not happen in 1 or 2 seasons, its going to take time and Agar may be that first step in that 10 year plan. Let's not hang the man before he has commited a crime let alone had a trial.
Whoever is appointed we should back him and the Club, nothing wrong with expessing opinions about any appointment, thats what forums and democracy is all about but back them until either it comes good and then eat humble pie or if it doesn't then hang them but not before.

in answer to jt
i have no problem with us spending up to the full cap in the third year. however that's not what we were led to think throughout this year. we thought it was all along, hence the dissapointment in the players we have been signing. glover is undermining the season ticket offer if he appoints agar and a man that only a few short years ago was shoving the finger up to our core support.
i never said that we wouldn't re-develop belle vue to the tune of £500k, i did ask what people thought the odds were of that happening in full given the underwhelming delivery against all points to date. i thank you for your pity. i am as concerned about our great club, apologies to all for giving a hoot.'"
Who exactly has been disappointed with the players that we've signed so far? I think we've done pretty well recruitment wise so far.
While Agar wouldn't have been my choice if 'supporters' are really not going to buy a season ticket because he is the new coach then that says more about them than it does about the appointment. Nobody knows how Agar will go as coach of Wakefield Trinity so he at least deserves a chance to be crap before we hang him out to dry. Just because a few folk on an internet forum don't reckon Agar is up to the job doesn't make it so. I bet Martin Edwards was glad he didn't listen to the fans when they wanted Alex Ferguson out at Man United many years ago.
I can't see an underwhelming delivery on any points and as such have no reason to doubt that the ground improvements will happen. You call it concern for our great club I see it as revelling in the possible misfortune but there we shall have to differ.

This isn't the point though. It's potential new supporters. The targeted 2,500 that will not be achieved by employing a proven failure with zero carisma. Sure, the same old mugs will shell out regardless of which numpty gets put in place. The bubble has burst!

| If we can get 5000+ paying to watch wakey vs quins. Whilst in bad form in a bad year. I'll be shocked if we can't sell 2500 season tickets atleast at £100 a crack!!
The players signed so far in Wilkes, lauititi, southern, Ellis already are all SL quality and appear better in most cases an improvement on this year. Add to that the funds been made available for another 4 players with quality on the agenda.
Add to that the £500,000 atleast pumped into belle vue.. Atmosphere.. Roofing.. More bars... Carvery..
If that doesn't encourage this years current supporters who attended the cru and quins games to add to 5000 + attendences to buy a half price ST nearly then something is wrong with the world.
I think the 2500 target is aimed at current support, and at that price the 2500 ST target should be achievable.
After the 2500 target is reached. It's the ones who need a little convincing and new customers that need to be targeted with advertisement, marketing and community interaction.
Trinity walk is a useful marketing tool come December time running up to Xmas. people with money to spend and what to get for family friends?....

Get ready to be shocked. I don't think there's a mechanism for any of us to get our credit card payments reversed until the end of September deadline either. If this was possible then I think a few would be arranging it immediately if the worst case scenario does happen.

before i write this i swear i am not trying to get a bite but how many of the 5000+ V quins do you actually think paid to get in the ground. I will take nothing away from AG for what he has done for you this season and he must have some very deep pockets with all the low cost games he has put on and in many cases free, but the test has now come and you will soon see just how many people in Wakey are prepared to pay to watch a SL game because I really cant see the freebies continuing on next season.

We had this accusation from a Cas fan just after a recent game if I recall correctly, and it turned out that his evidence for mass freebies was that someone in a pub offered him one.
I don't know where this black market of free tickets is operating, but I certainly never see any - are you confusing us with Harlequins?

| Have to say I never come across any or any other supporters... We have offered half price admission but not freebies on a grand scale to my knowledge.

| 5K has been pretty much our core support for the games where there is no away support. If there have been freebies, I've missed them. The crowds have increased beyond that when there have been offers, like when we got 8K against Crusaders the other year and it was half price plus Diversity.
