Great post. Brough and BJ were the perfect duo IMO. One authorative 7 and one easy going 6 who played a bit wider. Our form shows this was a good blend. Cooke is a old style player who can only pass and kick. He aint athletic by no means and does not want to work in defence. This style of player is like a yorkshire league half and has no place in SL. Cooke has not played well for years and the style of play he brings is outdated IMO.

I'll join you with that opinion.

Thats fair comment and i don't for one minute expect him to replace both those players, maybe one would be a start though.

I didn't rate Cooke before we signed him. I don't rate him now.

doubt it,cooke is no hooker.kear is going on past history with him,as when we won the cc a few years back he was outstanding.he's never been the same since he left us for the darkside,and his off-field antics in hull are public knowledge

Newton was signed to play 9 and 13, and direct us about, and take sdome pressure of Brough, thats the reason for my post. I do however feel that Cooke is looking more like Eric Bristow than ever.

rubbish bristow could throw things accurately and moved quicker towards the line.

my thoughts on cooke is that he is a luxury type of player.

by that i mean that he would have fitted in well into the team we had, not as a replacement.

he is the type of player who can do something magical when other things are not working, BUT he is not really an organiser that some people are expecting.

if a team had a few "threats" then he would add to it, but he cannot carry the team as the only threat.

I think ill judge cooke when we have a replacement for brough and he is playing as a ball playing loose forward...IF that happens this season??
