Garbage. Not having it. I've given him some stick but tonight, first gamein ages, he got stuck in and took defenders with him

I agree. I think some people just want to moan. I've been pd off and criticised when I thought it warranted but nobody deserves any stick tonight

| I have always said that the way Lyne plays the ball would cost us not so much dropping it but he seldom faces straight on. With regards Fifita he plays the ball quicker than the majority of our team and why is he now public enemy number one is it because of a rumour regarding Catalan. He is still contracted to us and I saw nothing tonight to say he wasn’t trying.
I would ask what was wrong with our kicking game in the first half because Chester saw something wrong with it.

| Fantastic effort tonight from the boys tonight and very unlucky not to get something from the game.
Comfortably the best performance since lockdown and finally something for the fans to be proud of.
Some big performances accross the park

I think it was more about the selection of kicks. Hampshire kicked really well but there were opportunities for attacking kicks that might have drawn some benefit.
That's where a more experienced half back will improve us.
It was still one of Ricky's best games but as a half back he has room for development..
I think Lomax is a good role model for him. It took him a long time to develop from good athletic player to good quality player with good physical aspects to.

| What was wrong with the kicking game 1st half?...too many kicks straight to hand, not enough finding the grass or touch...rectified in 2nd half
Positives
rocky's best game in halves
ashurst getting fitter & better every game, close to dream team best
walker gaining in confidence & his best game for us
woody's immense effort
westerman good 1st half
we scored and didn't wilt when under pressure
kicking game 2nd half
fantastic all round 80 minute effort, exactly what we've been asking for since lockdown
croft looked solid, pity his kick went infield to give lomax that extra yard
Negatives
didn't put them on their backs, so too many quick ptbs to defend against
got put on our backs so always under pressure against a defence that showed great line speed
soft try for grace
kicking game 1st half (not quite on point)
lost
I actually thought when I saw Bailey on the bench that he was gonna spell woody and move rocky to hooker to try out rocky's pace in the middle against tire legs...ah well...maybe next week

| Great effort last night but don’t recall TJ getting more than one pass in Saints half. Why won’t they get the ball along the line and give him the opportunity to take on his opposite number?

I'd add that to Steve's list of negatives. We have the best finisher in the league and seldom give him the ball. So frustrating.
As happy as I was to see the endeavour we continue to look very unstructured in attack, the first try was off the cuff and the other 2 were barge tries. We rarely create overlaps to get the best out of Johnstone

| Superb effort last night, I was expecting a second half capitulation, but no, finally a team performance for any fan to be proud of.
The only area we came second best was at the ruck, St's, like all the top sides, have three or four players involved in the tackle & the peel off slows it all down giving them that extra second or two to re-set.

TBF, saints did their homework and TJ was well watched and marshalled by them.
I think it would be fair to say we did the same with Makinson.
1-17 deserve enormous credit for that performance and as has been said by many, the effort was there and you could have made a case for any of them as MOTM.
One of the highlights for me was Westerman's kick-off!
Don't even think our players were expecting that!

Yeah, thoroughly enjoyed that and have been thinking for a while that we need to do more un-structured stuff like that. I know we have had a bit of success with Rocky's short re-starts but that is usually when we are chasing the game, so why not try a kick to touch from a 20-metre re-start to gain field position and get the ball back or take a very quick drop-out to touch ???
HKR have been trying similar things recently, I believe, with some success ??

| Nice also to see we got up into saints faces and cut down their time on the ball ,which I think contributed to saints mistakes especially in first half .Think a lot of fans frustrations was that we knew they had this level of performance in them ,but for whatever reasons They never brought it to the table on game day .Im not expecting a win or the same scoreline when we play saints again but I’m hoping for the same commitment and effort as was on show on Friday ,and I think that’s all anyone of us wants to be honest
