Bodies back ? We had 4 players out that would have been in the Starting 17 , of the ones due back next week couldn’t see arona making much difference to that - our inability to number up on the line was shocking - thought Atkins had joined the Boy Scouts to operate a semaphore - he was shouting and calling whenever we were defending that right side yet was constantly exposed - despite that being our first choice back line and back 3

The appalling number of mistakes Chester said 16 put us under the pump and took the juice. Add to that the stupid niggly penalties we seem to keep giving away killed us. At 10-6 at half time I thought we would win in the conditions sadly not. Rivers made a few mistakes but nothing like us. You cannot win a game giving so much territory away. Some players need to smarten up and cut out the penalties!

I was hoping Walker would be our answer to the defense.
Neither Jowitt nor Hampshire manage the line well.
TJ was surprisingly raw. Hasn't played in a long time.
I felt like Atkins was quite destructive when he took the ball up but didn't actually get a single pass for him to test the winger.
Tupou wasn't bad but has some work to do. Needs ball also.
Looks like Atkins will be in centre next time anyway.
I guess Kershaw will be tested too.

| I actually think we’ve got a really good squad and when I look at other teams around the mid to lower table there aren’t many players I’d be swapping our lads for.
Unfortunately for the last 18-24 months we have looked utterly clueless in attack, aside from individual moments of brilliance. Coupled to the fact that our goal line defence has been flawed for years out wide, means we aren’t winning many rugby matches. For me both of these things come down to tactics and that I fear is why we’re doomed to scrappy dog fights under Chester. Given the players at his disposal our attack should be feared throughout the league.

| I'm not one for bagging coaches particularly as it's only the first game of the season. But........We need a clear out, we're starting this season in identical fashion to how last season panned out. In cat terms we've now used all our nine lives, we can't be playing another million pound game or languishing at the foot of the table.

| The difference between the london game of last year and this was we had a relatively low injury count to start and lost this year we are carrying injured players already and players like tj and ashurst just coming back from long term ones and wont want to fully test themselves for fear of injury again its a simple fact we need to go on a winning run now or else we are serious relegation prospects just font see how carrying injuries weve got now

We're at our best when we get good early ball out to our dangerous players so they can expose their opposite number one on one. However, our half backs and middle men move the ball so slow that this rarely happens. Even the try we scored the pass was about 2 foot above Westerman's head - he did extremely well to keep hold of it. Attacking structure is still far too flat for me and not enough players running off the ball to drag defenders about. Take the errors out of the equation and the penalties and think about how long the coaching staff have had with these players to create a good attacking structure. It's been about 2 years now. These players as individuals are good players and Michael Carter has done excellently assembling the squad but it's no good if you can't get them working as a unit after such a long period of time.

Me too PT, and Josh Wood wasn't far behind him....didn't really notice Pitts or Navarette so they can't have done too much wrong either and can't decide if Atkins was at fault for Crooks' 4 tries, or was it a case of the defence not sliding across to help the winger, as usual ??

I felt Atkins was under pressure every time.
He was shouting for the slide two plays before the scored.
It was hard to tell but I think it was Brough being out of position and Pitts trying to cover.
Once Lyne went off it was like Zulu he was so outnumbered.

Put a smile on my face that pop tart, likening HKR to Zulu’s storming the barricades

That happened right in front of us
I’m not sure in the second half but I don’t believe Atkins was to blame, certainly not in the first half
He was out numbered 3 to 1 with about 15 yards of our try line cover
You could see that first try coming in the play before
Brough was involved in the tackle and did get back in the defensive line but any one of three wakey players should have plugged that gap for him imo, Atkins was screaming to cover the line
I don’t get why we have so many issues with our sliding defence out wide
It was the same last year
Hull ran the same play again 5 mins later although our cover tackling was excellent
Reece saw what as coming and was absolutely screaming at brough and Pitts to move out
They both ignored him though and didn’t move
Perhaps we have communication issues between our centres and back rows?

| Fifita got injured half way through last season ,he carried on playing and got so injured he had to stop playing .Green and the lad from Halifax cam in we played well with out Fifita problem solved. The team last night was full of new signings that Chester said make us stronger when the injuries hit .All I saw was a dad,s army on the field .We lost to a team that were supposed to finish bottom that were better drilled in the basic rules of rugby

| Exactly the basics of rugby league. The conditions called for 5 drives and a low kick every time. We couldn't even get to a kick. Yesterday was exactly the same performance as we've had since June 2019. Too slow and predictable, with no defensive resilience.
