We are still two behind Hull, Salford still one win from going above us and our points difference advantage over Bradford makes the odd point irrelevant. Not going for the one after Kirmond had been done injured was the wrong call. Great effort yes, no doubt about it and a draw was probably a fair result but it felt like a defeat leaving the ground and still does now.'"
We made the wrong decision today. I thought it was an entertaining game and TBH I am content with the result. I would of loved a win but I'd rather a draw than a loss.
Hulls early pressure on our line for 10 minutes shown some great character and defence. The signs are good we bombed a couple of chances (Moore offload and Owen knocking on a Tim pass) but atleast we have something to build on for Leeds. They humiliated us earlier in the season and I feel we can compete against them on Friday.

great game by all
My defence for Moorey would be that he thought Hull had knocked on and it was a free play. That's what I thought at the time.

| Quote: King Street Cat "I was screaming for the drop goal when it was 14 all. Sykes was set up for it but McShane saw it different and put Scruton in. The conversion took us 6 points up. A one pointer then would have only seen us go 1 point up and we'd have probably lost the game.
There definitely was an opportunity to go for the drop goal again but who's to say it would have gone over? Could have quite easily come off the post and Hull could have gone up the other end to score.
It's that old story of if my auntie had balls she'd be my uncle.
Just be happy for the 1 point.'"
Not the same at, with just 2 minutes to go a 7 point lead would have been insurmountable, game over, and that's exactly what we should have done and the players knew it. Having not gone for the drop goal to kill the game the next option isn't to go for a killer try but to pen the opposition on their own line either by kicking to the corner but keeping it in play or by grubbering it into touch and eating the time up with a scrum.
Like I said before it doesn't detract one iota from the efforts and commitment of the previous 78 minutes but it was poor game management from which we will learn through bitter experience.

Ah I see, so next time I'm coaching kids I'll tell them to hell with game management because it's all ifs, buts and maybes anyway! We might as well start throwing cut out passes and speculators inside our own 20metre area because choosing the correct strategy for the situation is irrelevant.

I wouldn't say that. IF Bradford get there points back we could possibly need another win now because they may win another 3 games. 2 pts today would have been priceless !!

| It wasn't a knock on it went backwards and Moore picked it up first I am pretty certain given his pass he thought it was a free play but it wasn't

| A drop goal would have put the game to bed and we'd be celebrating 3 wins on the bounce.
We went for glory in the corner, instead of killing the game.
However, 5 points from 6 and playing our best rugby of the season (for the last 2 weeks), you have got to be happy.
We still have Widnes, Salford and KR to come to BV and with the same desire and commitment we should be looking at picking up a few more victories this season.
Come on Trin !

| Brilliant, love it.
I think Mr Carter should sack James Webster immediately & put all contributors to this thread in charge.
By the end of year Wildcats will not only get relegated but will be parachuted into National Conference playing Eastmoor, Normanton & Stanley that is if Rapid Solicitors Stadium is up to standards.

Why?
No ones been hyper critical or unduly negative about not going for the dg, its a relevant talking point from yesterdays game. maybe we should close the forums, hand out gags at the turn styles and make discussing the game over a pint an illegal activity.

Lynne's tackle for the 1st try was right i front of me. He tried to grab the winger when he should of barged hi. I to touch. He knew straight away he'd made a bad decision but he did very well just to get there.

As somebody said before you snowie if's and but's, but nobody would have been moaning if Godinet had taken the pass from Moore and gone in under the post. If Owen could have held on to that dropping ball from Smith in the 1st half if it had gone into his midrift and not at his knees, but it didn't, if Godinet had thrown out a better pass to Owen in the 2nd half; if he had not stepped into touch but he did allegedly anyway, if we did not have that pr@t of a linesman who saw it; the very same one that ruled that Sykes's conversion attempt missed when the other linesman was unsure, and also was the only person on the field what saw something in a tackle in the first half, even Silverwood standing less than 5 yds away did not see, if's and but's eh snowie

| Reece Lyne (100, avg 16.67) & Richie Mathers (119m, 2 clean breaks) stand out performers. Scruton, Kirmond and Anderson 30, 31 and 36 tackles respectively. TT with a big 146m gained (23m more than Hulls highest Shaul and 27m more than Mathers)
Hull having a lot more ball than us credit to our defence.
