Don’t think anyone in SL can take him unless Toulouse fancy giving him a shot. Might be time to head back to Aus.'"
Signed for York, good signing for the championship as he’ll do some serious damage. They’re light if a few more decent players, lots of hype around them in the last year or two and they really haven’t done much despite a few older heads guiding them.

Not a bad move. Hope he does well.

Quite simple really - don't pay your other bills.

To me they are technically bankrupt, about to be evicted, have crowds that make us look like Man U.
They are clearly running a squad they can’t afford as far as I can tell yet they get away with it. Surely the bubble will eventually burst.
I notice even they won’t pay Pauli Pauli anymore so I suppose even they have limits.'"
They haven't been paying the agreed rent to the council for years but this is coming to an end. Unless the RFL bail them out I can't see them continuing super league for much longer.

Without wanting to sound sarcastic, I did know all that.
My question is not why but how. How have they passed the RFL’s financial checks. There bank must know what’s coming yet clearly still support them. They still seem able to sign good players and convince them that they will be paid.
I don’t get it. Even if they didn’t have to find the rent money I don’t see them as viable. We are only viable because we are cut to the bone yet Salford carry on as if they are a modestly affluent club.
As you say they can’t last much longer but people have been saying it for years since the Doctor left and they still are and frankly they don’t seem to be struggling that much. There are some good players at Salford, better and more expensive than we could afford when MC took over.
Either the world is blind or they are being propped up by someone.

Not running an academy and not paying rent gives them an immediate 400k advantage over us. That’s 4 very decent players

But surely both of those are about to turn around and bite them?
If we believe what we read they will have to pay rent or move.
Ditto as fewer and fewer young players are produced then those who are available will either be kept by their parent clubs or go to the big clubs, there will be very little left for Salford. They will effectively be a club that survives on overseas, cast-offs and DR/loans players. That can't be a viable long term business model.
It's basically what we used to be but without even the dignity of a junior set-up, if that's the future it's bleak.

Just because the multi millionaire left the running of the club to some one else ,does not mean he is not in the background with cash .With is contact's probably gets it back as a tax fiddle

Nice theory but no, for a legitimate tax fiddle if there were one he'd appear on the books in some way. There may have been some residual stuff at the start but no, wherever the money comes from now it's not the good Doctor. For a start, he's a total poser so if he was supporting Salford he'd want the world to know.

Looks like were looking closer to home.
Reading this, I think those who still think AF nay come, need to give their head a shake. I've just read on the Fox website that his contract was worth around 800,000AUD. That's about £440k in our money

Did he actually put any money into that club though? I think it was all loans from the council that they were using.

Why? He was coming at one point I can guarantee you that.
Frankly, I have no idea as to his current plans but he's clearly not worth that now is he. If he stayed in the NRL he'd be lucky to get half that, probably less. Also, is that per year or the contract in total? Does make a difference.
We could probably pick him up for 80 -100 k P/A deal now which is nothing like the figure you quoted. It's not cheap but it's not beyond the bounds of possibility.
Let's be right here, if AF did join us it's not about the money so much as linking up with his twin at the twilight of their careers, that's our drawcard for Andre,w not the cash. I doubt he'd come to SL for any other reason, but then again stranger things have happened.

This is where I got that information from Vasty.
https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-pr ... a1a5e098a9
With his recent serious neck injury, that will have dropped his proce tag somewhat.
Even a £100k contract would probably be a lot for us, and next year, he'd be 33, it would be a huge gamble, and in all honesty, I couldn't see him taking a £300k cut.
Sadly, as much as a fairytale for them, and as its been widely documented that we have a huge dent in our budget, I just don't think we could afford to be too sentimental over this.
If we were spending that kind of money, personally, I think we'd be wiser spending it on a younger player.
