Couldn't make the game but listened on Yorkshire radio, and the Hull-centric commentary team were quite clear that the referee and TJ's had missed a high shot on Wood shortly before Huby gave away the one that led to the winning try.

I thought it was a 50/50, only one break each, with yours coming in the 79 min, both teams had pressure and good spells, ours when the likes of Ellis and Watts went off, whiles yours where you used your bench players. Could have gone either way and don't think either team could have been upset if it had.

Impressed with Arona, bet his stats are good and Johnston continues to impress apart from that silly pass.

Liked what I saw from Wakefield.
Grix was good and took his try really well.

We were always under pressure with England of but the forwards responded really well. Fifita and Wood coming off the bench really sparks it up.
They hammered Ashurst hard all day and I felt he was just starting to get on top when Kelly caught him high.
When he went off we had to bring Finn on as the loose forward which was where they got their break for the deciding try.

Good overall. Need to get points from those games though.

Thought the ref went ok, missed a few things for both sides (which is to be expected) including Grix elbowing Griffin forcyou to receive the pen, also according to Radford your try was a knock on, and I'm sure Chester to point to decisions the other way. He didn't effect the result.

Losing England in the first minute meant we were always going to be up against it but I thought we played well in the conditions. Arona and Fifita stepped up and did the work we missed by losing England.

A draw would have been a fair result but to think we could have pinched it in the last minute!

Could have gone either way, nothing to be too disheartened about today. Smarten up the discipline and we'll be fine.

Tough one to take, think a draw would have been fair but key points I reckon are:

Grix totally surprised me with how much he offered - I was surprised he was given the 1 shirt ahead of Max but I can see why now.

Defending was top drawer, shoutouts to Ashurst and Fifita who got through a load of work, along with Arona.

Thought we were the better side in terms of entertainment, but Hull just shaded us in ruck speed which got them the points in a game of fine margins

Couldnt see how close Grix was at the end, but if he'd have scored no one could begrudge us.

Albery Kelly has got a web-like substance on his hands, made 3-4 outrageous catches.

Thought Williams played well also and pretty convinced he's not a revolving door half back.

Reckon if the fixture computer had chucked out Salford instead of Hull for first game, we would have won

All in all, a good game, I really enjoyed the arm-wrestle both teams seemed to manage the conditions well and was tight all the way up to final hooter - roll on Hudds!

Just watched the highlights, icon_eek.gif the try at the end wasn't a try, hard to tell if Grix scored the one given, looked like he might have knocked on, but hard to tell, would need another angle, so you have to go with the in goal ref.

Did anybody else think there was an offside in the build up to Hull's try ?

Sneyd went to kick the ball, at that stage all the Hull side were onside, however he decided against kicking and took a couple more steps then kicked, by which time the chasers were in an offside position, one of whom went on to score. That's how we saw it.

Doesn't really matter now, we lost and nothing can change that.

Quote: Dave K. "Just watched the highlights,
Oh yeah Im not disputing the fact it wasn't a try but it looked mighty close from the other end of the ground. Would have been a deserving matchwinner. Especially considering that 2 of your penalties were milked against the spirit of the game in my opinion. Totally legal and if Wakey had done it, I would probably be praising our cunning but still a bit sad imo.

Again, just watched the penalties for the goals and all fair enough, your players made no effort to role away, not sure what Houghton could do, Wakey got one in the first half for the same thing.

Very equal game in my opinion, but Hull had more clean breaks, particularly in the first half. Thought we could have prevented the Hull try if the ball had been palmed over the dead ball line instead of played. disappointed to have lost such a close game but we are Trinity and always seem to come off second best in such games. Faffita had a very good game, I thought.

tbf if a player is laid in a offside position then he should attempt to move away, in this case he didn't, on your penalty it was harsh, suppose we both see what we wont to see, if it had been a draw suppose nobody could have complained, good luck in the rest of your season k020.gif

Personally I want to see dummy halfs picking the ball up and trying to play instead of launching it at a prone player but has happened a few times in games already this season. Cheap tactic for me, if a player is lying on the floor and keeping still then play on. Houghton could have run with it or passed in anywhere instead of launching it at the Wakey players but like I say, its in the rules and got you the 2 points so can't grumble too much.

On Houghton, thought he was class today - how he's not made the England squad is a joke.
