Quote: Topcat13 "The location of the beer sheds for home supporters is an issue!
Located high at the back of north stand with no way to que and getting in other people's way.
The burger bar by Doncaster road turnstiles causes a bottle neck on a thoroughfare making accessing the male toilets difficult. And the steps down to the east pen dangerous!'"

Yes, indeed. It was so much better when we averaged 4,000 every week wasnt it? icon_rolleyes.gif

It will be intresting to know if they ran out of BEER down the dark side a046.gif
I do hope they enjoyed there yearly visit and come back next year?
While some home fans feel alienated and enjoyment have suffered and may not return?

All this talk of walking away and not renewing is ludicrous and petulant.

Segregation is not ideal, but it's a reality of modern sport. BV is very difficult to effectively segregate and it was the first "proper" attempt at it, theres bound to be hiccups at first. The most important thing for me there was no trouble and hence no fine.

One of the big positives for me was that I stood in the N stand and the atmosphere was unreal - much louder than my other haunt in the Revie End to put it in comparison.

The game was close and of a decent standard, was a bit annoyed they ran out of beer but not going to complain because as others have said, I go to BV for the rugby and a beer is a bonus. Anyone who gets that put out by not being able to have a beer for an hour or so needs to take a look in the mirror imo.

All in all a good night, just a shame we couldn't get the win.

If it turns fans away then they are not really fans are they? They come to watch the rugby and supposedly support Wakey, they should get on with it a026.gif

I take you're point but can you define a "real fan" for me.

A few minor issues that need some work but other than that i agree.

I don't drink so from my own view its not an issue other than a loss of much needed dosh for the club but the walk ways are.

Well, for me, a real fan would stick with the club, channel their energy into supporting the 17 blokes who put on the red, white and blue, a real fan would not say "if so and so happens/does not happen I won't be getting a season ticket for next year".

The segregation from where I was sat looked to be policed ok ,run out of beer, get a grip.Must have a problem, but I suppose we need something to moan about after a great game.God....just listen to yourself.

Fair points, i think from other replies we all see "real fans" differently.

It's not the running out of beer that's the issue I have a problem with the lost revenue in what is one of our biggest earners.
This is are biggest opportunity of the season to make some £.
And we throw it away on/off the field.
Could have filled a few holes in are ship.
A conservative estimate of 50k lost.
They were people wanting to spend money and we couldn't take it off them.
I hope someone is held responsible for this?
Or maybe we didn't have enough to pay the supplier with our track record I don't think I'd be offering credit.
If I had to go down legal channels to get paid.

Quote: Stanley Cat "My comparison with a night club was in light of all the stair wells (exits) being blocked. You clearly have no idea of the concept of access and egress when it comes down to the duty of care for persons or employees on your property. All means of access and exits must be kept clear.'"

As we don't know each other I would say it is NOT clear that I have no idea about "access and egress".
Where I was stood you could get out and move around easily.

However, you compared the North stand to a night club. A nightclub is a confined space with limited exits and narrow walkways to get to them. Added to that an area that encourages drinking all night and plenty of electronic equipment around to start the potential fire in the first place and carpets to keep them going. The safety laws are completely different in that situation as I'm sure you know.

Apart from the people themselves and possibly the beer shed, there is little to burn in the north stand. In addition if there was a problem everyone could exit east, south and west (as they do at the end of every game)
The walkways should indeed be kept clear for emergency use, in or out, and I hope they do in future, but I disagree a safety inspection would not have closed that down imho.

on the subject of h&s, i too am a safety professional and there were definitely issues last night that needed to be addressed (stairwells left clear - this is often so that the first aiders can get to casualties easily etc), and there are also some improvements that need to be made that are not h&s related (beer queues).

*quick rant* - there are a lot of issues that are not h&s related but people label it as such so they are not questioned, many of these are just poor customer service. us h&s guys get a bad reputation for been jobsworths, when it is often not our fault!! sometimes it is over zealous insurance assessors!!! *rant over*

cracking atmosphere last night though.

Well said that man. My comparison with the night club was nothing to do with the bloody stand setting on fire it was to do with the ability of people and the emergency services having the ability to move in or out of the stand. d040.gif
