Quote: MatthewTrin "To put things into context for you regarding the recent MSMs obsession with Brazil

UK Population - 67,875,356
Total UK COVID cases - 303,110
Total UK COVID Deaths - 42,589
Deaths per 1M population - 627

Brazil Population - 212,512,836
Total Brazil COVID cases - 1,043,168
Total Brazil COVID Deaths - 49,156
Deaths per 1M population - 231

Brazil are doing way better than us, that's three times better, based on the adjusted population figures. The BBC should concentrate on our country's own problems, stop sucking up to the UK government and stop with political point scoring overseas.'"

Oh dear d040.gif
I'm sure that you remember all the talk about "flattening the peak" ?
Brazil is still on the way up in a vertical line and while you are quite correct in saying that per capita, at the moment, they are doing better then the UK, their numbers of new daily cases is quite staggering.

What happened to the conspiracy theory ??

Thank heavens it's only the useless windbag one can only speculate where we would be with other so called leaders in charge of I am honest there is hardly a leader among the lot of them Corbyn was is an activist Starmer couldn't make decision to save his life when in charge of CPS and nothing seems to change in respect of him too many agendas not enough cohesion politics are polar opposite at the moment and the gutter journalism doesn't help. Having watched numerous live reports and then seen the summary twist things I stick to Al Jazeera now at least it's down the middle!

Quote: vastman "Again! What you say only stack up if you accept the figures given. Brazil is a semi corrupt nation, China is totally corrupt and the WHO is owned by China! Trump is a vile man but that doesn’t automatically make wrong and the above is a perfect example of what he calls ‘fake news’.

Seriously is it even remotely credible that France, Italy and the U.K. are all 30,000 + whilst Germany claims to be 20% of that, come on it’s just not credible.

However people seem happy not to question these ludicrous figures so long as they can use them to bash Boris! How does this help? This is not a party issue at the end of the day it represent to me just how week British society now is and that’s reflected in our politicians, all of them.

Our governments response has been poor in parts but not so poor as to make other nation figures stack up. We need to open our ears and not just listen to the bits that suit us.

The CIA believe China’s deaths figure is closer to a half a million than 3,000 that its propaganda arm the WHO accepts. We are nowhere near that yet you’d think we had a regime in power every bit as evil as China, utter nonesense.

The truth will out in the end and when the hysteria dies down the U.K. as is so often the case will come out cleaner than most. Lessons will need to be learned sure but perhaps the biggest one is the British people desire to self loathe and believe anything that supports that odd desire to stop,'"

Why don't you check the excess mortality data if you distrust the reporting of COVID19?

I've done some of the groundwork for you (Percentage data captured for All Mortality 14 March - 8 May compared to the last 5 year average).

England & Wales 2020 increase on the previous 5 year average is 60%+ (131,467 / 82,000 )
Sweden 2020 increase on the previous 5 year average is 27%+ (17,925 / 14,079)
Germany 2020 increase on the previous 5 year average is 5%+ (151,661 / 143,906)

Our World In Data.org have even provided graphs for 24 participating countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany (Berlin), Germany (Hesse), Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK (England), UK (Northern Ireland), UK (Scotland), UK (Wales).

Strangley enough vasty you appear to have quite a knowledgeable head on you when broaching serious subjects that doesn't always show through on RL/Trinity topics. No offence intended, I've enjoyed reading your posts, but it it is quite a simple answer to your question; The thing that scares Boris the most is the fact that he hasn't a bloody clue what the heck he's dolng and what the job of PM entails and what it's all about. He hasn't a clue when answering serious interviewers and repeats the same old rhetoric on every question. What he does say is what his "Law-breaking" advisor tells him to say any way. In a word vasty, the man's an idiot!!! icon_thumb.gif

The "conspiracy" was suggested by posters earlier in the thread, some scheme designed to keep the population of the world in its place and no such thing as the covid pandemic ??
As for common sense to judge propaganda, that's a little more difficult icon_wink.gif

I always remember the line form the track "pills and soap", "something in the daily rag to cancel any crisis" and there is little doubt that much of the news, now, more than ever before, is driven by an agenda from someone, somewhere.
It's quite staggering just how much can happen without the perpetrators not being called out.

Trump, for instance, would have been a laughing stock with some of the guff that he's come out with but, he has the majority of the US media running scared, almost like they would in a dictatorship.

It's a strange world that we live in, that's for sure.

He can’t even go one session of PMQs without having to turn back towards his mates for reassurance who are only there to jeer at the opposition.

How bizzare, a blind man with blinkers on.
Btw vastman is quite knowledgeable about most things, he sometimes though has the propensity to be a little short on patience with some posters on here with less understanding than him, he's certainly half a page in front of you icon_biggrin.gif

I could probably cope with him if he had an ounce of sincerity and stopped telling so many bloody lies.
We were supposed to have a "world beating" teas and trace system in place at the beginning of June ??
His own ministers willingly admit that the app connected to this MAY be ready by the end of the year icon_surprised.gifops: - this was supposed to be THE main element in controlling the spread of the virus.

With the ecconomy in full reverse, he is now going to gamble everything on reducing social distancing to 1 metre (an announcement probably by this time on Tuesday) and yet, the very thing that was supposed to keep "his people" safe doesn't work.

Boris and his shamed advisor have blustered and lied through all of his tenure as PM (and before) and he simply isn't going to change.

"Listening to the science" will stop very soon and it will be politics that now governs our safety and wellbeing - good times eh ?

I just don't see that everything is being gambled by reducing the social distance. Many countries worldwide have less than 2m,the WHO recommends minimum of 1m.Scientists are constantly changing their opinions. Its not just about distance from someone, but orientation and duration.
With regards the app, again opinions on this have cooled,in the main down to the expected take up,or lack of it.Scientific opinion suggests between 40% - 80% need to download the app for it to be effective in the fight against the pandemic.Countries that rolled out the app early have struggled to get the required amount of people to download.
Things that seemed imperative to develop a couple of month ago,it appears are now not as imperative, unfortunately that is the nature of this pandemic, its a moving feast.

Our World In Data.org have even provided graphs for 24 participating countries

You are totally missing the point. Statistic are only of any use if you trust them. I’m willing to accept the U.K. data with reservations as I am most EU nations and most truly democratic nations such as Australia. Then it becomes worthless.

It’s not just what you report but how. In the UK COVID goes down as the cause of death even when it wasn’t the primary killer. This is especially the case with elderly care home patients, hence our figure look higher.

Did Covid kill the vast majority of older patients? Yes in the sense that it speeded the process. However without wanting to sound crude most doctors will tell you that a new strain of flu would have had a similar effect.

Without wishing to sound cold the stats that matter are the under 50’s who have died and the obvious excess death in the ethnic communities. This is where our success or failure lays.

Truth is whatever has spooked the worlds leaders regarding this virus it isn’t it’s mortality rate which remains pitifully small, sorry but it does. There is something else about Covid that we don’t know about. It’s not a conspiracy theory, it’s a fact, the response does not seem to match the cause.

Ten years ago Ebola nearly escaped Africa. This is a virus with a 90% mortality rate! Yet the world did not shut down, do the math on that one.
