I think with the pack failing to dominate opposition there needs to be a re-think about freshening the pack up with more strike and trying to ensure it’s best performers are on the field the longest and involved in play the most.

I would start with Bowden and Eseh at props.(Battye and Atoni off the bench).

Hood at hooker (Crowther interchange but also could be used at 13)

Ashurst and Pitts at second row (Tanginoa interchange).

Whitbread at loose forward where he’s played previously on a few occasions and impressed.

Start Tanginoa and drop Ashurst to the bench who’s not been good at all this year and poorly disciplined. I’d also have Hood/Bowes at 9 who are the only 2 hookers at the club. I’m not sure about Whitbread at 13. He would be good there but he’s also our best prop.

I’m not sure the pack is the main problem. A number of games the forwards have done their job and we’ve been camped for many sets in the opposition 10 but it’s the pivots that haven’t unlocked the defences and the edges that have leaked the tries in abundance.

For me the biggest disappointment is Lino. He’s been the constant and he’s had most of the ball most games but he just can’t create anything is the sad reality.

Perhaps Gale could just be the organiser and Lino can trim his game down to simple running opportunities and simple play options.

I agree about Lino to a certain extent but he's trying to do too much.
The opposition know he's the only one they have to defend.
If Gale is on the field it puts some doubt in their mind.
Especially if we play Gale and Lino left and right.

To be fair to Lino, if Gale comes, that will be his 5th different partner so far! Bringing Milnes for 1 solitary game if that's what it turns out to be just adds to the weirdness of this season so far I noticed there was a lot of 1st teamers playing for the reserves at Wigan the other day, but no Proctor or Atoni, surely it couldn't have done them any harm to get some more game time......?

Like Gale give over, shows how bad our coaching set up is ,if we think this will solve our problems .So easy to see if we did not get a good 6 at star of season to replace Miller we would struggle ,(and from what I have seen this season that is been kind) They have made a right B***** is of it .The coaches get paid to sort these problems out .They are way out of there depth .Could have saved loads of cash by not signing Proctor ,come on star signing 34 year old .Four goes they have had at finding a 6 this season, and there calls are getting past a joke

It's no good saying Miller as, as good as he was, he had a better pack and speed outside him and we still only scraped home.

b) who we could afford...............

Even just available whether we could afford or not. There aren't a lot of names to choose from.

I don’t know the stats but was under the impression that Whitbread is near the top of the league for tackles and a 13 is a middle nowadays.

I also thought that our pack struggled with yardage and that some are blowing out of their derrière after 10 mins. I know what you mean about Ashurst but can’t see the Captain being dropped plus starting Tanginoa is a gamble when he’s not played all season. His greatest impact would be from the bench when opposition are tiring.

Pitts gets the nod because of his sheer work rate.

Well as supporters of the club we can only sit back and hope this works. Some of us on here think it will solve many of our issues, personally I have my doubts but all I can do is hope he adds something.

This has been three or four hard years as a supporter and one of the things keeping me going is that if we do get relegated at least we can 'Drain the swamp'

That is a job for a coach, last season when W Poaching was in charge and most of cash for players had been wasted by Chester ,W Poaching brought in Whitbread and Hall both were our better players most of last season so to me a good Coach can find players if the want to.95 % shore we would have not had 4 different players play at 6 in 10 games if he was still here
