| Quote: The Avenger "Yet Crowther came on against Wigan and immediately got 2 defensive reads and technique wrong which both lead to try’s being scored!
One of them was due to a lack of effort to map across which is unacceptable from a player fresh off the bench
Worse was the fact that the starting team had defended manfully and limited Wigans attacks.'"
People bang on about Crowthers defence and while his workrate in defence is high he does get bumped off regularly and makes a number of poor tackles from what I see. Can’t knock his effort one bit though.

| If J C is making poor yards with ball and gets bump of regularly and makes poor tackles is his effort enough to keep him in the 17 every week

He isn't getting bumped off as far as I can see.
I don't think he played well against Cas but he puts big hits in and a high number in every game.
He's not my favourite player but we are weaker down the middle when he doesn't play.

| Does anyone else think that a change at hooker might bring more from our forwards. On Thursday it was very clear we were making no progress through the middle. To me the distribution from Hood at dummy half was slow and predictable, with very little movement. Gaskell was just passing the ball as soon as he got it, I don’t think his kit will need washing as he never got near the defensive line.
Kay back at hooker will give us much more zip around the ruck and hopefully get the likes of Tanginoa and Arona hitting the line at speed again.

I don't. Hood may have not been his best against Cas but so far this season the forwards have been much better because of Hood's distribution and game management.
More than happy with Bowes and Kay at hooker, but Hood brings experience we've badly needed for the last two years.

Tend to agree, Hood had a stinker but so did they all.

| Hood has looked gassed for the last two weeks, and is struggling at the moment. I suspect that he is not 100% fit and it is showing.
Agreed, he is a good for us usually but this break is overdue.
Battye is in the same position

| Hood is not the panacea we hoped for at hooker ,he may be a solid player but nothing special from what I’ve seen ,doesn’t have the speed of thought or movement to step up IMO . Looking at the likes of old man Roby or Parcell or most other hookers in the game that make their teams tick ,he’s off the pace .I’d go so far as to say Kyle would still do a better job. Watching the Kelepi/Crowther rumpus develop,my pennies worth is Kelepi is playing at 50% of his ability and Crowther is always up around 80% of his , when our team on a whole playing up to their potential we are capable of holding our own ,but drop off and we get scorelines that do us no favours . This isn’t a Kelepi bagging post ,just that he certainly isn't IMO playing to his potential, but then again we had this with big dave not so long ago . You have to look at Arona and say that he may not be a world beater but he is mr consistent the odd brain fart aside and has been full value for his contract

| Think has already been said that for Trinity to compete they have to have their best 17 on the pitch playing at their best as there’s little strength in depth especially in the pack.
As a result there may be more blow out scores like today during the season…

and we are not in a position to cope with 'short turn-arounds'.

Nothing to do with strength in depth, it’s attitude in depth.
These are just feeble excuses, there are plenty of teams in the same boat as us but they don’t fall to pieces every time some one is out.

You surely must work for the club? How can anyone be happy with a hooking partnership of a young academy lad being thrown in to a team struggling or a winger being converted to a hooker because we've not got any other option. I don't mind Kay at Hooker - as a stop gap! Imagine if Leeds started consistently playing Handley at hooker just because he did alright there. Or St Helens with Makinson. People would themselves. Yet you're happy with that and a lad with little super league experience who is still physically not quite there for Super League as your pairing. Boggles my mind. Hood is steady away but not great. We probably have the worst hooking options in the league. Alongside our prop options.

| The problem is and was always going to be the case that other than Fifita we are too light in the pack and none of our signings reversed this outlook.

Why would me working for the club make that statement any different.
I'll try and write slowly for you.
Hood is my preferred option as he's an experienced hooker and I like how he's played this season up to the last game when they all played badly.
I think Kay is a good option. Whether he was a winger for a long time he started as a half back and has the skills. If he wants to keep going as hooker then for me the games he's played so far show he is good enough.
Bowes has also played well. I would shield him from lots of games as Willie is doing but he's developing and needs game time to do that. Whether reserves or 1st team.
That ok?
