A 9 or 8 finish is hardly cosmic but it’s comfortable but above all we start next season as a form team - vital imho.'"
To be honest i’m not sure that surge will make a great deal of difference now. The mood changed the second MC finally pulled the trigger on Chester, the feeling of hope returned. The wins are nice but i’m pretty sure the change means all the usual will support as they usually do whilst the floating fans will continue to float and see how things go. Being already popular Poching doing well might help if & when he gets the job but even if he have tanked then a whole new broom coming in would have had a similar effect. The lads will start next season full of belief whatever happens just like every team does, tough pre-seasons tend to do that to the psyche. Although i have to admit that with a likelihood of 3 teams going down next year a good start is vital.

| Shame about Tom too. Unfortunate knock to take him off. He did seem to flake out for a second.
Hope he's OK but it was definitely a bonus having Kay on the field. Might have slowed us in the middle slightly with no interchange.
When he made his break though it was obvious he still had the hooking effort in his legs but took the chance well.

| Just watched the game again , lot of positives thought pack played really well and once you know the result it’s easy to say we never look troubled. Lol Kershaw probably has the highest work rate, but thought westerman was mom
Only negative was Toms injury, just his head hitting ground fairly hard butt he was proper out cold, third time this season and personally am glad that he can now take some time out without any more impacts to the head

| I would say that was the nearest we have come to a complete 80 minute performance for a long time (75 mins ?) and can't single out one player who had a bad game. Our pack dominated theirs, which set the platform for the backs to work off, our completion rate seemed excellent and barring the first 3 minutes, we controlled that game quite comfortably and fully deserved the win.

| Vastman says it's vital we have an end of season surge, last week he said we should use the end of season games as trial matches for squad players and the young kids. What a difference a week makes.

Try using quotes it’s a lot easier.
So don’t things change in your life or can you see the future? God bless you I wish I could.
Four weeks ago when I said that I couldn’t see us being anything other than 11th or 12th.
Vastman wasn’t expecting 4 wins from 5 and I seriously doubt you were. Now we are playing well with the senior players then it would now be absurd to go down the youngsters route or at least until we know where we will finish.
I’d like to see some get a run but I wouldn’t blame WP for sticking with a winning team.

Can’t say o totally buy that. The more casual Trin fans of which there are many, tend to base there next season decisions on how we ended the previous season. True it won’t increase season ticket sales other than bringing those who were wavering back on board, which in itself is worth it What it will do IMO is encourage those who were looking for reasons to not bother anymore to think again. To me that’s vital as we need to get back the fans we have lost.
Agree though that a good start is vital but that really goes without saying and it’s been a while. But with a good end of this season and a winning start to the next the whole momentum of the club would change.
Oh and that new stand would be nice.

I believe the higher a club finishes in the league, the greater the payment from SL. A few weeks ago we were looking at a second bottom finish, with a bit of luck we could finish we could finish in 8th place. An extra few £thousands in the trinity coffers.

You know I’d totally forgotten about that, and yes it would so now it’s double vital

| It also matters to future investors and to assessments like the academy ratings and franchise ratings if that comes back.
That one place means a lot to a club like Wakefield.
It also won't hurt Willie's job application.

Unless we have a catastrophic collapse in the remaining few games I think it would be almost impossible not to give Willie the job.
I’m not saying he’s the perfect choice, he certainly lacks the experience of a JK but results do tend to support his case.
As I say, unless we really start to underperform for the rest of the season, what really matters now is who we take on to support WP. It’s a clean slate with Last moving on and WP moving up. It’s a great opportunity to bring in some fresh people with fresh ideas, or someone who’s been around a bit and has the knowledge.
Either way I suspect next years back room will look decidedly different. Hope that’s a good thing.

| If it were my budget for recruiting I'd have Willie and back him with choice of right hand but also a very definite defensive coach.
I'd employ a part time Sports Psychologist for confidence and focus and if the money stretched I'd employ one of the Rugby Union kicking coaches on a consultancy basis to improve distance, accuracy and kick selection.
It's not that we are bad at these things but we can improve them and it will bring success.

Wow we really are on the same sheet at the moment, blimey
I totally agree about the specialist staff. We can’t afford them full time but part time I’ve always believed was a possibility.
I’d concentrate on the off season, kicking yes, defensive yes and I’d add sprint as well. All could be hired short term I’m sure and all could give us just a tiny edge but one that could make all the difference.
The psychologist could be on a when needed basis.
Truth is when you can’t afford the best and we can’t the only option is to make what you have the best they can be. I reckon you could get all the above for say six weeks for less than a bog standard player.
It’s not my money but if it were I’d probably take a pint.

| I certainly agree about a coach for kicking (not goalkicks - who can teach lino anything more?) but particularly penalty kicks to touch; I know lots of factors can dictate how far the ball goes, and weather has to be considered, but really our touch kicks could make many more valuable yards than we gain at present. Miller does his best and I suppose kicks with caution, but we could milk (pardon the pun ) a few more yards I reckon.
