No it isn’t, he’s equally as effective at both. It just happens that second row offers him more freedom to run out wide which catches the eye. When he played prop he hurt the opposition and took a lot out of them.
Both rolls are vital but as he’s our only real tackle buster most myself included would prefer him running wide.

| Quote: PopTart "Seems to me all the people posting about switching people to prop were moaning that Chester played people out of position.
To me if we are down on numbers many of our team can cover another role. But that's not the same as a player playing there for the season.
We'll soon get found out if we play Westerman and Pitts as our front rowers.
Firstly we lose what they can do in their own position and second we'll batter them while they at best get used to the new style of play and at worse just play badly.'"
Jeez who’s moaning, people are discussing options, they are clearly not the same.
Nobody wants Westerman or Pitt’s playing out of position but sometimes there is no choice. All clubs have to do it at times even Saints or Leeds.

This. He is excellent at both roles for us.

Agree, anyone who doubts that should go back to the last game of the season against London last season, he quite literally dominated Londons pack by himself playing in the front row.
Different positions highlight different elements of a players game, dont get me wrong he is fantastic playing SR but imo just as effective at prop.

Exactly this. Tanginoa shouldn't be used to cover prop he is the player the team is being built around so he should be second row despite effective at prop. He is in the SL Dream Team as second row isn't he?
Another specialist prop and if finances allowed (due to several players leaving at the end of the season) a utility forward who has the size and experience to cover the prop/second row positions.

There was lots of moaning last season. I seem to remember a practical lynch mob for Chester whenever he played Tanginoa at prop.
But apart from that we are agreeing. All I've said is I agree these players can cover those positions, but only temporarily. We need an effective permanent solution.
The props we have are fine. If we need cover we need to find a prop rather than disrupt the back row.

Effective at both are you joking. Kelepi is wasted at prop a lot of grunt and doesnt get anywhere amazing work rate but if Chester plays him at prop that is a great weapon wasted. We should have had a prop sown up by now quite worrying. Green & Tangata cannot cut the mustard at this level.

Wondered when you’d crawl out looking for your scapegoat. Two this year and big lads as well for a change, you must have had two Wheetabix this morning.

That’s exactly how I see it. The season is still a couple of months away (we hope!)
There’s still time to add a prop if circumstances are right, or even after the season has started.
The players look good enough to me to look towards the top half of the table IF the attitude of the last few games continues.

| With so much uncertainty, around at the moment, perhaps waiting until the season is almost here and seeing who is available is the best option for the club.
If a decent quality prop is on say £80-100k and we need 2, by hanging on, there is a saving on wages alone of around 50k, which for a club like ours and in the current climate, is absolutely huge.
We all want the best squad possible, without question but, right now, looking after the "beans" will be more important.
There are likely to be some loan options and some players that cant get a gig.
The squad that we have is thin in the forwards but, assuming that who we have are fit, we should hang on.
