| Quote: The Avenger "I know you love your stats PT but they don’t tell you the whole story
All the stats are from players who’s first responsibility is the middle channel, with the exception of Pitts.
Now far be it from me to decry the hard work done in the middle channel but with all due respect the largest number of tackles are always made in that channel and they’re often the most direct collisions and not a lot of evasion is present.
What those stats don’t tell you is how static were those players when it came to mapping out from the play the ball toward the edges as the attacks went wider. Maybe they did this or maybe not, experience of the last couple of hundred games would suggest they didn’t do this enough or with any consistency.
Only a thorough analysis of the defensive misses will tell you where the genesis of a missed tackle truly formed and who was ALSO at fault for it.'"
I absolutely agree. Making 5 great tackles but waving the 6th one through is no good to anyone.
I'm interpreting stats that don't give the full story. For me it does show that we are doing too much work. Better execution reduces the number of tackles needed and missed tackles.
It's not a lack of effort think. Kopczak is a good example. His stats show good work with ball in hand but we can blast holes in the defense all the way up the field but when we get there we don't have the player to set our attack going or even put pressure on.

I believe that what you were saying was that majority of the middle men’s tackles were racked up by attackers running straight at them and with the restart in place this has been increased, but what I was trying to say was that there is a lot of defensive tackles occur in other areas and crucial tackles as well, not that the recent scorelines suggests that

| To me it's significant that a lot of discussion on here is about our defence, which probably shows how woeful our attack is and that we're actually having to defend so much! Attack is the best form of defence they say - I wish I could see light at the end of the tunnel but without that onfield general, we all seem to realise we need, I can't see where improvement is coming from.,

| Reading the after match report from Chester, I agree it is the same old rubbish just another week just like it is the same coaching and just another week. He appears to think that the problem relates only to the games since the end of lockdown it doesn’t it relates to 5 wins out of 29 games. He is disillusioned at least he is getting paid to be so how does he think we feel having to be embarrassed at the end of each game.
To those that support his reign remember the club have worked hard to improve our image within the game which with every match this is being chipped away.

| Just watching Wigan demolish Hull FC, having earlier watched the Warrington/Saints game - I know we all had aspirations at the start of this season but we're light years away from these teams. The speed they're playing at I can only dream of following Trinity!

I agree with all that but all of wigan saints wire and to an extent leeds and salford havent had to cope with the readjustments weve had due to covid injury etc and their 1 6 7 9 pretty much intact every game so that certainly helps them but without a regular spine it is difficult but ours are on a different level of skill and speed to them and we cannot match them we urgently need a playmaker of quality if we dont want to finish bottom either this year or next
