Quote: Kettykat "Tom is an outstanding winger going forwards, will score tries out of seemingly impossible situations like tonight , but for far too long now he has not been anywhere as good in his defensive reads. Not all Toms fault may I add as our sliding defence at time is non existent which leaves him in no mans land and caught out . tupou was also in the same position tonight with some poor reads ,so to me it’s not individually a problem as much as a team not working together in defence'"
I really can't decide though whether whoever the wingers are, are they being 'coached' to defend that way? What I mean is, by them seemingly committing early, they are trying to force the opposition playmaker into not throwing the final pass, therefore going back down the middle, because it could be picked off and intercepted? Which by the way isn't working obviously because they just look silly and are caught in no mans land! BJB was pretty good at snaffling interceptions, but time and again him, TJ, Tupou, and even Kershaw in his limited games just seem to be caught out too often, but is it the centres that are making them do this by their decision making?! If you go right back to the first game of last season at London, the number of times they created easy overlaps was embarrassing, and it probably happens every 3rd or 4th game, is it the coaches or the players??
