What would a Cockney know about rugby league?:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_73558.jpeg

Sick to the back teeth of people digging the club out over ticket prices. It costs what its costs - if you don't like it don't come. It is quite clear the price points have been set to fit in with the business plan that is keeping this club alive. I'm sure the club would like to play all home games at 3pm on Sunday or any fixed time by SKY call the shots and pay a significant wedge to the lcub for the rights to do that. If anyone is able to plug the approx. £2m funding gap per annum required to tell Sky to do one then please stump up now. Otherwise shut up.

Funnily enough that's not how forums work.

Why should we be competing with NRL prices anyway? I reckon 75% of Wakefield don’t even know what the NRL is, let alone the ticket prices.

Quote: TheDreadnought "Why isn't it valid?

Fundamentally everythingthat happens at Wakefield including pricing, facilities, players, staff, fans, on field performance, even the car park count towards the only thing any fan should care about and that's making a success of Wakefield Trinity.

So comparing other clubs in the same sport IMO is 100% valid.'"

Your point about competing with The NRL isn't valid because, although they play the same sport, we aren't in competition with them for attracting fans or season ticket holders.

Competing with Huddersfield may be important but, with the possible exception of yourself, I dont know too many fans that like visiting The John Smiths stadium, let alone want to watch them instead of Trinity. ,therefore, even they are barely "competition".

From where this thread started off with a simple question about whether Platinum "early bird" tickets ceased this Saturday, which they do, we have drifted wildly.

You started off complaining that Trinity haven't reduced their prices and have drifted further since then and you appear to have a different agenda to the rest of us.

The bottom line is that you either watch Trinity or dont, it's a free world
DC has indicated how you can reduce the cost, either by purchasing a ST or buying in advance and if you prefer Shudds, then, crack on.
Personally, I dont see why anyone would but, it's a free world.

And my point on KR offering monthly payments. Where do you stand on that one?

Whilst I do think they are overpriced (including the D as it seems as I initially wrote overprice lol) my agenda isn't "bring those costs down this instant" it's "It would just be interesting to see how teams like Wakefield are trying to mimic the NRL deals and do we ever see Adult ticket pricing ever dropping?"

I get it's all in the background for a reason and in no way am I saying it should be public knowledge but

DC mentioned a state payment to Melbourne, have we approached our alternative for something similar?
Melbourne have big name sponsors, have we approached companies like (sticking with Melbourne) Suzuki? (Although I have pointed out I really liked the Asus deal)
Do we intend on offering monthly plans similar to KR?

It's all relative IMO and I don't know how many more times I need to point out, I have already sorted my season ticket.

Not too sure if I am in a minority here but on the flip side of the coin, I always find myself wanting to contribute to the club in any way I can, through buying Merch etc, even when i am not a massive fan of it, I still usually go out of my way to buy some. I always buy my Father a season ticket at Christmas, though I know that he wont even make some of the games... Maybe a bit sad in a way but I am more than happy to hand my money over come game day knowing that I am contributing towards something I love, if the tickets were £30 I would still pay that over paying £10 at Hudds or any other club for that matter. I am in a fortunate enough position to be comfortable with money so outside of my own personal situation I cannot comment.

What's pink & hard first thing in the morning? The financial time crossword [url=http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/864/pinkhards.jpg/:39bjthd5][img:39bjthd5]http://img864.imageshack.us/img864/5724/pinkhards.jpg[/img:39bjthd5][/url:39bjthd5]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_65068.jpg

Well if you are in a minority I’m in there with you, along with those things you mention I also pay sponsorship for a player and am part of a group that has sponsored a player every year since Tim smith arrived, plus I pay into the club 1873 (commit 6) and when I go to the academy & scholarship games I still put in to the pot even though they are free to season ticket holders icon_thumb.gif

Going back to Dreadnoughts last post, Wakefield do offer a direct debit staggered payment offer, so not sure where your gripe is with monthly payments. We are not competing with the NRL so their pricing and funding solutions are 100% irrelevant to us. As someone else has stated, we are competing with every other activity in the WF post code zone that people spend their disposable income on and to a lesser extent other RL clubs (really only cas hudds & Leeds) as they are in the same competition as us and to a lesser extent Batley, Fev and Dewsbury.
Lastly as someone who has worked in sales for the last 32 years, what works in Australia is not necessarily going to work here, I can tell you I have a different sales approach in Barnsley than I do in Wakefield so a 12000 mile away demographic are definitely going to have different needs the the populous of the merrie city icon_wink.gif

If you don't mind me asking which of the two payment offers would be most convenient/appealing to the standard working class family? Paying £259 over 3 months or 12?

I also work in sales and completely agree, that's not to say the same strategy tweaked slightly wouldn't benefit the club. My point isn't "copy Melbourne".

Not that I don't agree that Wakefield are also in competition with other activity across WF but other than RL what else would you include?

Absolutely on this with you. See my season ticket as membership which throws the games in for free. so I might miss a few but at least the club will be around in a few years when I can make them all.

You dont have to go far back to see what that kind of policy does, Glover nearly took us under with it. Look at Bradford, again cheap tickets I know there fundamental other reasons why they ate struggling but discounted tickets didn't return income to save them

I hadn't seen HV's reply as I have him on ignore but good for you guys who can afford to do that, I also have had season ticket for a few years now and sorted mine for 2020 which is why I wanted to ensure nobody sees this as me stamping my feet because I want it cheaper, I want to see the club be a success and IMO replicating other teams is the way forward.

But you do see his posts when it’s quoted by another poster d040.gif

As for your reply to my post about paying in instalments, you also say “The same strategy tweaked slightly might benefit the club” so we don’t have to do 12 monthly instalments but an interest free 3 instalment plan is a tweak (or our own) strategy.
Not sure what you sell and if you’ve ever put sales plans together, but understanding your market is the first point to establish before starting to put an action plan, I don’t think you’ve grasped it here, season ticket sales are up so our current strategy on that is working, discounting match day tickets would effect the re-sale of season tickets next year as the benefit would not be as great, most importantly we are not in Melbourne and not receiving millions of £‘a in subsidies to support our business plan. Improving the match day experience is the best thing we can do to improve attendances and income, our hospitality is sold out for most matches so it’s the walk ups and stay away fans along with getting new fans, that need to be worked on, as a chairman of a community club I know that trinity do an awful lot to address this, unfortunately there is a lot of other activities out there on a Saturday/Sunday and Thursday night are a loss leader. Cutting the price of watching what we produce on the field is devaluing the product, I’m guessing your the kind of salesman that when the customers says “I can get it cheaper at “insert supplier” you offer a discount, rather than state you products USP’s
