| I hope it is a saving that does not come back and bite us next season. I know Brough played two good games recently but he has played an awful lot more poorly and he will be a year older next season.

| Very sad to see him go but this contract merry go round seems to happen with him every season. He seems to go from 1 year deal at club A, to one year deal at club B and so on.
I think Walker and for that matter Jowitt are better fullbacks so i do not think we will be weaker there.
But
He has been the best scrum half at the club in the last few years, and we have played the best rugby with him in that position. Personally i would have liked to see him move into that role permanently and grow into it, with Brough moving into hooker similar to lealuai at wigan.
However, it is not to be. We will just have to wait and see who comes in.

You say that is not how MC does business, yet he has openly made light of a players concerns over being treated like a piece of meat ? Is it really appropriate for the CEO of a SL club to respond on social media telling him to get a job in a butchers? Not too sure it is? I don`t agree with Ryan in the articles either, but he is speaking for himself and nobody else - MC is running a professional club and his actions need to reflect that.
By the way, I have openly been called a liar on here by a certain poster that is relevant to this situation, when I saw a player at Manchester Airport when he first signed for us, so now I tend to hold judgement on a lot that this person says - It is just a personal thing I guess, but I know a few others feel the same as I do.'"
I agree regarding social media but that also applies to Hampshire. Whatever there is clearly some bad feeling so it's all over for me and there's no point worrying about it IMHO.
It's a very typical attitude amongst sports fans to immediately elevate a player who's just left to be either a victim of the club and worthy of sainthood or being downplayed as never being good enough for the club, both are pants IMO. Players come and go, its the team that matters, who knows whether Hampshire would have become a superstar, ditto who knows if his replacement will be better or worse, it's all subjective and impossible to know for certain.
The king is dead, long live the king as they say.

How do you know its a saving? That's just stuff pushed on social media, we don't know that its a matter of cash at all so far as the clubs concerned, it might just be a matter that the club doesn't rate him as much as he rates himself, hardly a new situation in sport is it.
You could say the same about PP, he could go to Salford and be the superstar he's occasionally shown signs of being, I doubt it but he could but as nobody has a crystal ball we'll never know until it happens.

| Listening to Kirmo on TrinityTV, he said MC hadn't offered him a contract earlier on and said they would see how he went. He accepted it and continued to put all his energy into the rest of tge season. If MC has been honest with Kirmo surely he has been honest with Ryan. They put an offer to Ryan, he didn't respond and they gave him while the end of May to accept. The deadline passed without him accepting.

That's possibly not true from what I'm told, for Brough it wasn't a loyalty issue as such as he had no particular wish to leave Trinity and join Hudds or anyone else. What Hudds were willing to do was clear his debts rather than pay him any more than we did, considering the people he allegedly owed money too it was an offer Brough could not refuse if he wanted to carry on walking let alone play.
I can't prove it but I tend to believe it coming from the people it did.
If not true its a great urban myth.

I know it goes against what people want to believe ie nowhere near dramatic enough but I tend to agree with you.

| there was also a marketing value to Rocky that's not been taken into account a local lad plays for his local team, had he managed to maintain a half back position and steered them to success it would of bought in the much need new support in the fan base and a return of many of the ones that have left.
my thoughts was he was wasted at both wing and full back and was never tried long enough in the halves his speed and agility was far better in the middle of the field than at the back or the wing,
its also a shame for Reynolds too who I thought could of made a decent pairing but that was my opinion.
to be truthful I'm not looking forward to next year after this season its going to take a lot of proving that we could end up with a squad capable of a top table finish

| Regarding Rocky's tweet - more to this than meets the eye surely. The club wouldn't just let a player find out his future via an internet/social media. If he's been offered a deal months ago, deal wasn't accepted, maybe another slightly improved deal was drawn up again not accepted. Then what's the club meant to do, just let this linger on for ages while he sits waiting for another deal that the club can't/won't offer? Sounds more like a breakdown in communication between agent and player.

| Really disappointed to see Rocky leave the club. Been a fantastic player all year and you could see what it meant to him to get the win the other Friday, a big loss for the fans after seeing him play so well in 2019.
I can remember coming away from a few matches this season thinking he was one of the only players that gave his all for the team.
Sad to see a local lad who clearly loves the club leaving. Good luck Ryan i'm sure he will be snapped up by another club pretty quick.

| Snowie i agree with you but feel we have a reasonable squad at present to make next season a good one , providing we can stay clear of injuries. With regard to Rocky its a bit of a sad state of affairs. Most clubs promote local young players and make a good job of it. Our club for me is miles behind the likes of Cas, Leeds Wigan. and even Shuds.
Anyway i wish him all the best and still hold a little hope a deal could be done keeping a young, local, talented game breaker on the books. It will probably be a story that will run and run.

| I think I'll trust MC to look after the purse strings. It's history now anyway.
If we have signed Walker it would be good to announce him next.
