Yes like a demented bee , thought he was poor against Wigan and tbh the two games showed why he can’t command a regular spot, but you can’t really leave him out.
Behind a strong pack miller has shown really well this last two games . Brough for all his faults is still best scrum half we have.
Totally agree with mission on this -

| I fail to see how Brough is the best 7 we’ve got when we’ve won more games with Hampshire at 7.

| Hampshire is a decent player, but not the ‘god’ some make out. If it had been BJB coming off his wing for the Marshall try in the corner all hell would have been let loose.

Probably because bjb is a winger

He's also won more games than Wally Lewis.
In a team sport that isn't the only criteria to assess an individual's performance.
Musson summed it up perfectly for me.

Also for some one you seem to be on a witch hunt of not being interested did he look interested with his try against hull and then still got moved or did he look interested setting Miller up or did he look interested at hull kr when escare who has no end product to his game broke away twice and didn't pass or bjb who didn't pass or when Miller scored Sunday was at the side of him, your making it into a personal rocky bashing

I regret to say that our wingers are out flanked in most games and have to come inside to try to stop the play. This applies to all who have played in this position and reflects on a poor defensive structure which we have never resolved.

| Agreed. All I am saying is that people are very selective as to whom they aim their criticism. You have actually made my point that some are criticised excessively .
Hampshire by the way has considerable experience on the wing. I actually do not criticise him for the Marshall try as has just been pointed out it is what happens before the ball is spread wide. Bet others would have copped it though.

When you say witch hunt I assume you mean my one comment?
Let me be clear, I like him a lot. I was one of the pro Hampshire posters when arguing about fullback. He's a great athlete. Probably one of the bestin the league in terms of footwork at the line and clearly one of the fastest.
My comments are more about the results of the contract discussions. Whoever is to blame, I think it's affected him. It's my opinion based on what I've seen.
I also have doubts about him as the starting scrum half but the way the contract negotiations have gone we will likely never find out.

| I always like to judge halfbacks when the pack they’re playing behind are dominant, on the front foot, getting quick play the balls, thus giving said halfbacks time and space to do what they’re in the side to do and create things!
For months our pack wasn’t doing that.
The last three or four games our pack seems to have had much more energy and go forward...and guess what...Miller and Brough have looked far better players...HKR away especially...
Sunday was a tight game...referee’d poorly, there were slow rucks and short tens and little fluidity from either side...were Brough and Miller any worse than Williams and Leuluai? If anything I thought ours created more...
Fact is...over that ten game or so period when we were decimated through injuries, busted and playing injured forwards you could have had a 25 year old Brough at the top of his game and I think he’d have made very little difference...
He’s contracted for another year and in a full strength squad playing well can still be an asset for me but may need looking after a bit, like Saints have with Roby this year..

| Quote: MOPSEY LIVES ON "Reynolds and rocky we're the halves when we went to 3rd'"
But Brough and Miller were the halves when we won 6 out of our first 10 putting us there...
Rocky and Reynolds played 4 games together...2 wins...26-24 at home to Leeds and 26-25 away at Huddersfeild...and two defeats 28-26 away at Cas and 30-14 away at Hull so they hardly set the world alight?
If you look back through the season and our 6 best performances in terms of points scored and margin of victory...
Hull KR (a) - Won 38-10
Hudds (h) - Won 36-10
Hull (a) - Won 32-12
Leeds (a) Won 35-18
Salford (h) Won 33-22
Wigan (h) Won 30-20
Brough and Miller were the halves in those games...which only goes to prove...they CAN play well together when the whole team does.

Some valid points and I agree with what you are saying. You could even take it a step further and say that having Johnstone out for 90% of the season has impacted our forwards in some respects. The way he wins the collision when returning the ball often getting a quick PTB which is a dream for a forward taking the next drive. You only have to look at Saints with Makinson & Grace.

Agree 1990, the quick PTB is massive, when I watch games back on Trinity tv the wife gets sick of me shouting at our players about winning the collisions and finding their feet.

I think one of our big problems is that when we got long term injuries to our two best ball carriers and surrogate forwards tupo and Johnstone we never adapted our game.
Partly due to injury but also it highlighted how ineffective some of our forwards were in actually going forward - the thing we now seem to have are forwards actually carting the ball up with strength and pace - kt green annikin and tangata have made a massive difference in that respect.
