Quote: lampyboy "Would rather meet St in the quarters than the final. The squad should be up for this one and it wouldn't surprise me if we are in the bag for the next round. Saints are a great side but have rode the luck over a number of games this season and the cc a one off.'"

so you would rather get knocked out in the OF instead of experience wembley week ??

That’s not what he said. However you have to earn the right to be there so if we could beat the favourites then we would be there by right.

Funny thing is the last time we went we beat a fancied Saints team.

But back then Saints were the weakest of the three available. Widnes and Hull KR were the ones to avoid.

Saints have more experience of finals than we do and they would have a bigger advantage over us at Wembley than they have in the earlier rounds.
Finals are about handling the occasion and not just about playing RL, something thet Trinity have no experience of.

If we have to beat them to progress (or win the cup) it's better to play them now.
Still a tough ask and a draw that, given the other sides still in the cup, nobody would have chosen but, they wont enjoy having to play us either.

I just hope that the Trinity fans make the effort and make the trip over, rather than going for the easy option of staying at home or watching in the pub.
We need to be accross there in numbers and give the boys our support.

Come on Trin !

What happens during a Wembley final is really miniscule compared to actually getting there, especially for a club like Wakefield. Soft games up to the final are ideal. A Wembley visit could be a once in a lifetime event for fans, players and the "club".
There is nothing advantageous about meeting Saints away at this stage. We've got them and that's it but lets not try to paint it as some preferred option.

Imagine before the draw was made. "Do you want Saints away next or meet them in the final?"

I don't think any ones denying what you say, it is the least ideal draw, but it was always possible and now we have to make the best of it. My only point is that RL doesn't always go to form and that's what we now have to aim at.

The poster on here he is being ridiculed for stating that its Saints who should be worried is imo correct. We've got our worst scenario draw during our worst injury crisis in years, we have nothing to lose now, If there is an advantage in doing it the hard way that's it. Also Trinity have since I've been watching them had a knack of screwing up the easy games yet winning the ones nobody expected. Not always I know but sometimes and god knows we are due a decent game in the CCup, I certainly can't remember a truly epic cup performance not even in 2008.

Yup its super optimistic and clearly you feel your life force is ebbing away but keep the faith, you never know. icon_lol.gif

PS: At least your old mate Grix isn't playing!

Or would you rather meet Saints or Halifax in the final. I know which I'd go for icon_biggrin.gif
IF (and it's a huge if) we could get to Wembley, we would have a better chance of victory against another club who aren't experienced in major finals.
Although Leeds are in all sorts of trouble at present, there is no doubt that they "know" how to win finals and they, or clubs like them, would have a massive advantage on the big stage.
Conversely, Halifax, KR or Bradford, wouldn't have that particular advantage.

Of course, we would have all preferred Halifax at home in the next round, as would Saints but, we are where we are and lets enjoy the game. After all, victory would make things really exciting, especially with a Championship club still in the comp. Mind you, we'd probably draw Wire in the semis icon_biggrin.gifEPRESSED:

Fair enough. Twas off the top of my head. I stand corrected but I just knew that the other three wanted us and we wanted Saints.
