We couldn’t get close enough to even have a pop. Dropped ball putting ourselves under pressure.

At the end of the game he had an ice pack on his thigh.

| Quote: PopTart "Didn't look injured but there must have been something.
That game just has to go down to a win and move on.
Can't say anyone played badly, we just didn't get out of second gear.'"
Yep that's about all we can take out of that, a win , hopefully no injuries and move on.
A bit of a typical CC game for Trinity, where we sometimes don't hit the heights we do in SL games, not sure if we went in a bit complacent or what, which as we saw first game up against London isn't beyond the realms of possibility. Maybe we're a bit tired after the last few weeks with not being able to rotate any players, maybe it was just one of those games. We were a bit flat out there to say the least, silly errors etc and we went through the motions enough to get the win. I suppose you don't get any more points for playing high intensity, error less high quality RL.
Anyway fair pay to Widnes they came to play and gave it a good crack, so they can hold their heads up.

Hopefully just a dead leg or something and we're being precautions.

| Credit to Widnes. A very good young side, Some very big forwards that could do a lot of damage. The first 60 mins was the worst I've seen Trinity all season. They found it very difficult to complete a set. Need a big improvement next week or London will take us.

| Even though we are still a bit busted and had plenty missing, we made exceptionally hard work of that and credit must be given to a very spirited Widnes side.
However, the completion rate, especially in the first 40 was awful, with possession given away so many times and much of it early in the tackle count.
Certainly an improvement in the second half but, it may have got interesting had Widnes had a full 13 on the pitch for 80 minutes.
There were some good performances form some, with Jowitt being top of the list, a brilliant all round display.
Batch looked sharp on his return and it was great to see Kershaw get over. Having beaten 4 defenders, he looked like he was going to go the full length only to get pegged back but it was a cracking break and the lad looks to be taking his opportunity in the first 13 really well.
Please to get through the game and lets see who we get in the next round.

| Quote: Pats plastic pitch "Very young Widnes team that. The starting back line and front row, all home grown players. I feared the worst tonight, thought 40+ but we were in the game until the last 10 minutes.
Wakefield have quality throughout so no surprises you ran away in the end. You’ve got a great team and best of luck for the next round.'"
Thanks for the kind words Pat.
A great effort from your boys tonight and hopefully see you back in SL soon.

| Full credit to Widnes for their performance tonight. Job done for Wakey without getting in to any sort of stride but not comfortable viewing at 12-6. Handling errors all over the shop
Again we’ve just got the win and that’s all we need to keep doing for now. 8 days rest and more bodies back next week. Koppy and Jowitt the stand out performers for me tonight. Again liking the look of Kershaw, great finish and real handful when ball in hand.

| Great effort from widnes, they were very hard done by on Dave's try
They had a strong kicking game and played to the end
I was really pleased for the lads we got through to the quarters, they really deserve it for all the effort prior to this game and playing so busted too
I imagine Chester told the lads to keep the intensity low and getting through with no injuries was as important as winning
The main things I took from tonight
Koppy was excellent
Kirmomd put some brilliant drives in (another year please danny!)
Dave!
Kershaw a great performance again. (Love this lad!)
MCB defensive effort excellent
Renoylds another improved performance
No injuries
We are desperate for broughy and his kicking game to come, back the majority of our kicking tonight was poor
