Quote: TRB "I'm not on here as much as I used to be. I seem to be the bringer of evil to many!

Yes, it's tough to read, but most don't have the full picture and I can't do much about that at the moment. NM isn't everyone's favourite, never was, but at least it offers the club a future - one way or another - and that is what all of this is about.

]One day I will get to tell all!]'"

Unfortunately i think this is all part of the plan. When was there last ANY news released regarding NM? , is it actually years? . No new information leads to people losing interest, which in turn softens the blow when it is shelved or mothballed, as people assumed it already had been anyway.

By the time one day comes i fear it will be little comfort.

Not having a dig at you TRB. I just think the lack of information is because it suits an agenda, and not necessarily ours.

You may well be right, but there isn't anything concrete to report - however, we feel we have a number of moral and technical arguments on our side that we can use to make sure we either succeed, on some level, or we go down fighting trying!

Believe me - I wish I could unload some of this crap, but I wouldn't be doing my job (?) right if I did and, for now at least, all I can ask is for you to trust that myself and my colleagues are doing everything we can to ensure it is not swept under anyone's carpet - no matter how convenient that would be for some!

Never had you down as a snob captain, some people are more fortunate in life than others, just out of interest how many more streets' do you walk down in Belle Vue to get to the game.

You dont have to be a snob to see the filth on Catherine St. It is an eyesore and a health hazzard. You dont have to be rich to ensure the front of your house is clean.

Some people have got a bit more on their plate than wondering what passing rugby fans think of the front of their house!

What do you expect, absentee landlord exploiting just off the boat immigrants. As someone has said they have more on their minds and no idea what's expected of them. Better question is why don't WMDC send a road cleaner up there once in a while - or someone from the environmental health go and enforce the law - that is after all what we pay our rates for.

Finally if it offends people that much there are many others ways to approach the ground, Belly might give you a lift in his helicopter. icon_biggrin.gif

Just merely pointing out to a previous poster you dont have to be a snob to know its a dump on that side of the ground, i dont care where you come from there is no excuse for the state it is in. Whoever is to blame and yes i would blame the landlords, i stayed with a friend for 1 night there many years ago and i have to say it was a dirty smelly damp slum. WMDC/ enviromental health should be doing more along with the residents.

Whose fault was it that it was a dirty smelly damp slum, the landlord maybe, or the council perhaps for their reluctance to empty the bins on time, don't suppose it was your mates fault but yet your quick to blame the local inhabitants what are probably clueless as to what their entitlements are and their basic human rights, it's no wonder the council are reluctant to send street cleaners down there if their attitude is owt like yours, on the plus side at least you have managed to identify the problem without exactly pin pointing the culprits icon_rolleyes.gif
Not sure why you have to walk up St Catherine's street anyway as the turnstile at the top has been closed for a year or two now, next time you and snowie and trb walk up there to inspect it close one eye then you'll only see half the problem, and don't forget to put your mask on.
Oh and fwiw I walk up there most match days and manage to overcome your pregidice to your problem and it's yet to affect my watching the game.

Wow there cowboy! I said it was a run-down area, which it is, that may be attributable to a whole raft of issues for which I am not willing to get drawn into and I am not casting any aspertions on anyone! A Trustee suggested this could be improved alongside the ground on a wider scheme basis - nowt wrong with idea - but it met with no favour! That is all!

Well first of all I'm not a cowboy so lets not make it personal, It's not the first time you've commented on what you term run down areas' that is Agbrigg and Belle Vue, there are other areas' of the city also deprived of improvement which you fail to mention, This area we talk of has been run down for years now and I'm inclined to put our failure to attract investment in the club down to bad management rather than the run down state of the area, so I can't see why you feel the need to labour the point.

I haven't laboured the point, you have! It was a general comment and the relevance is to our stadium, so why would I comment on other areas?

I agree in part about the management, over decades, but without support from council there is little they could have done more.

The reality is that it doesn't help attract corporate clients in to the facilities, and we need them, just as any other similar sports club does! This also applies to the car parking, in that whilst we are happy with on street parking and walking to the ground, a sponsor, paying perhaps thousands, would deem parking spaces adjacent to the ground as a minimum requirement. This has, and does, cause problems for the club, especially now with the SB car park out of action!

To rise to any challenge you must understand the nature of that challenge and its implications. To look at BV as the end result requires consideration of future needs and aspirations for everyone. Some love BV as it is, some, well we know what some think, but we can't afford to alienate part of our customer base through what facilities we have / don't have and the way we present them. BV is a massive challenge, and one with a whole heap of barriers in the way as mentioned above somewhere. I'm not saying they can't be met, but we don't have the mechanism to do so at this time, which is why NM came about in the first place!

Been walking to the ground from St.Catherines street end for most of the 30 years I have been to Trin.
The problem with rubbish was long before the properties were rented out.
Also if you walk down the backs, it's got a bit better, no mattresses propped up against walls and down the bottom end, the pavement and walls are pretty new.

Pointless sending road cleaners down St Catherine St Vastman because they couldn't do their job owing to all the parked cars preventing the gutters from being cleaned.

Finally if it offends people that much there are many others ways to approach the ground, Belly might give you a lift in his helicopter. As others have already stated its a complex issue when areas of the community become really run down which in turn affects businesses such as Trinity. I'm not sure it's about a little bit of enforcement, do those that live in the area complain to the council or their local councillors about these issues, probably not.

I've only followed Trinity for about 35 years and in my time it's always been the same on the walk to the ground, not great but I've walked through rougher areas in my time and it's the experience of watching Trinity that sadly I look forward to.

It probably needs a Community Safety partnership approach between representatives of the local community, the club, the supporters, other local businesses, the local M P, councillors and the council itself. But is the desire there for all these partners to want to affect change? eusa_think.gif
