Sorry but no he hasn't, you may think you've seen it but I know I have not. Sammuts best two games were against weak opposition at S/O. At FB he has shown nothing. For all Mathers faults he was playing well at FB until his inexplicable move to the wing and now on his return is playing well.

Sammut has frankly been poor at FB in my opinion, a position incidentally he knows well. Sammut is a great little player on his day but I'm yet to see him take and dominate a game in a Trinity shirt.

I disagree, Mathers has been playing an awful brand all season. I'll admit that Sammut hardly set the world alight at fullback, but he's better in both attack and defence than Richie and he's younger.

Potentially he is way better than Mathers, but until he turns it into performance I'll go with Mathers who average though he is was not to blame for being dumped on the wing.

Saying Sammut is better than Mathers in defence, is akin to saying Pol Pot was better at poker than Robert Mugabe, its missing the point really.
They are both poor in defence, i didn't go to Odsal but i heard Sammut was absolutely awful if not gutless, things that have both been levelled at Mathers.
In attack i have yet to see Sammut taring the place up, so for now i'll have to stick my neck out for Mathers.

Sammut is a maverick - supporting the line off the back of some of Smiths plays would be fantastic to watch and exciting. He has the skills off the back of this to break the line or make a pass. I dont believe Mathers has this ability. I have seen many times when Mathers has stopped the attacking play when supporting as the full back due to his lack of skills base.

Now not every teams has this luxury in there side and a few weeks ago neither did we BUT we have a talented player not even being selected now and where not 100% sure why this is the case ?

As a taxpayer i am not a 100% certain where my tax is spent, and I'm sure i wouldn't agree with everything i did, do i have recourse? of course not.

I've always thought that Mathers adds most value when he joins the line - he knows where to be and can put in a decent pass; I've seen him do it fairly consistently.

As for the maverick stuff - I don't think we're ready for that just now; we appear to be clicking again with Smith back and for me, that needs to bed in for a while before we start throwing in an X factor.

Along with organising the defensive line,Mather's other main attribute is making the extra three quarter in attack.

Hmmmm...so Sammut and Siejka are going to start ripping up the Championship with Fev are they ????

I hope for their's and Fev's sakes that they do and come back better players !!!
