Quit while you can; your suggestion is stupid, naïve and lacking any basis in any of the facts surrounding both clubs attempts to secure a new stadium.

Why are we discussing other team stadiums now?
I know Cas forum is quiet but surely you can whip up a conversation on a new stadium?

There has probably been no shouting from the rooftops over this because as it stands now it is still a long shot. If it does happen it will be into the next decade before a ball is kicked there. These things drag on forever as Newmarket has shown. And even then there is no guarantees.

I hope it comes off - they need it as much as we do.'"

This site will enjoy the full support of Councillor Wakefield because this is the site LCC were pushing in place of Newmarket... because it was not adjacent Methley.

I think it going to be hard for many die-hard Cas fans having to write letters of objection against this development, having of course clearly set out and stuck by their principals against developing green-belt sites previously, then I would expect the letters of objection to coming flooding in...

This is potentially the start of a very long road and clearly having had the site rejected for removal from the green-belt in the LDF, the developer is prepared to role the dice for getting planning now the political landscape has changed. Of course, I am sure he is going to try and demonstrate exceptional circumstances for developing on green-belt using Cas Tigers need for a new stadium... sound familiar?

It will be interesting to see the views of some posters about this development and whether they stick strongly to their publicly declared principals...

I am personally neutral on the subject of whether this site should be developed, it is a matter for the local community, WMDC and the SoS office to decide on any application to develop this site.

as a cas fan, I really don't care and I just roll my eyes at talk of it all.

It's all too much politics for a very simple man like me. I'll just turn up where we are playing

"Stand by me as I stand by you, be brave and dare to dream".:

I've got to say I'm not a big fan of the site for any development if I'm honest. Whilst it may not be rolling meadows or a wood where people can really enjoy the outdoors, it is the last little bit of land next to the M62 up there and with the old pit site being developed the other side I think it's important that we don't end up with a 'develop at all costs' strategy that see's the merging of towns to the point where there are no clear boundaries other than the M62. There are other issues too, which I'm sure will be addressed at any public consultations, but what does another development of this size mean for the town centre?
I try not to be for or against anything until I have all the information, but my gut feeling is that this is not the best site for development, though I accept it might be the best chance of Cas achieving a new stadium. Tough times/decisions ahead for all involved I fear.

It'll be interesting in hearing the views of that tireless environmental campaigner "Big Alf". How does his politics fit into supporting this scheme? I know your reading Alf, any chance of a response? icon_biggrin.gif

Why woud he bother ? I've been reading these forums for years and for ages alf was warning you that you were in severe financial difficulties with weekly CCJ's and WUP's and you chose to ridicule him and believe the people on here with the red white and blue glasses. I don't blame you in a way as we all naturally believe what we want to hear but don't invite some one one here and then throw the teddy out if he is eventually proved to be right.

So anyway, this thread is duplicated on the Cas forum. It doesn't look like there is going to be the mass bite from Wakefield fans that was expected and no more additional info so we might as well close it.

.....last chance to add anything relevant.

I don't doubt you have been obsessing over Wakefield Trinity forums for years, don't know why just look at you own it's full of threads on the mighty Trin. Let's be honest you posted on here about a new proposed cas stadium expecting the bitterness and resentment some cas fans give to NM, but what you got is good luck responses not bitterness. I think that sums it up some cas fans are obsessed with Wakefield , Wakefield aren't bothered about cas.

I think we will leave it there.
Pointless angling for bites either way as this was the attention of the OP in my opinion.
Any further commentcs can go to the cas board, they'll be glad of the company I'm sure.
