| There are two games gone.
Makes me laugh how many other club fans think they are not going to be in the poop.
Cas v Bulls was just as much a relegation battle as ours.
Long way to go yet.

I agree Pop's - though moreso if we would have got beaten.
I've seen enough in week one that we played in 2nd gear against Bradford and won, so it's certainly within my team to pull away from the drop with comparitive ease.
That being said, I will start looking up instead of down when the gap is 8-10 points... as yet it's 2.

| The fundamental point about last nights game is that if we could preserve the ball a little better an complete our sets, we wouldn't be half as knackered as the team were last night.
This is not coaching, but basic rugby skills, like they teach to 6 year olds, plus giving needless penalties away.
Our handling as a team has been poor for a couple of seasons and until we give ourselves an even share of the ball, it doesn't matter who we are playing, we will struggle to score.
Yes, there are issues with selection but, the Lyne and Mathers bashers need to stop looking for scapegoats and support the team (and the coach)
In hindsight, we would have been better with Wilde on the bench (to give McShane a rest) but, maybe Agar was hoping that Sammut would create a couple of scores (which the guy is usually more than capable of)

| It isn't Agars fault the ref makes basic errors, nor is it Agars fault numerous players made basic errors.
It was Agars fault that when we were tiring in the second half one sub had only done about ten minutes.
Both players and coach contributed to poor game management IMO, so if he's getting the boot so should more than half the team.

Whilst I am not an Agar basher it is IMO the coaches responsibility to ensure the players are capable and competent to go out into the pitch and carry out he duties of their job both effectively and efficiently...m
Players dropping the ball whilst carrying out simple procedures IS the coaches fault!
That said... He has had minimal time to work with the players as a unit and the pack looked very fatigued on Thursday... This is a good squad and will do ok!

| Not read every page on this thread so someone may have already said this.
I don't think I have seen Wake play as bad in a first half on Thurs for a long time.
Add to that getting spanked in the penalty count.
But we only went in at the break 6 points behind, a chance to regroup and look to play basic percentage rugby in the second half.
Instead we serve up panic station rugby like we were 20 behind.

Yeah well the penalty issue has to be addressed. As a fan it is easy to think the referee is biased. I think if we just continue to think that and do nothing about it we will get hammered all season.
Why can't the players get smart, when will the penny drop, you CANNOT outsmart the system. If I was the coach I would penalise the players who frequently offend.
I'm sick to the back teeth of the opposition piggy-backing themselves to scoring positions because of OUR players stupidity.

Didn't Leeds fine players for giving away pens.
You are right we must cut it out or we won't stand a chance.

One of the top clubs did, may have been Leeds. I just think frequent offenders (penalty machines as some call them!) are letting down the team, supporters and the coach.

I think it was the Stoop 2 years ago on TV we got thumped 36-0 and we were lucky to get 0
Wait a minute didn't we make the play offs that year- All's not lost on one bad performance.

| 6 pages of disecting RA, errors, team selection, referees and everything else and I think only one poster has mentioned possible replacements (JD & GM).
So, lets have it....Who is available / could be realistically tempted to come and take the job on for the money we have to play with after we've paid RA up?
Id love to make an up market suggestion like John Monie, but at best we're looking at the likes of Paul Cullen, James Lowes, Sean Long or another recently retired player who is looking to cut his teeth in coaching....are they any better than RA?
Cullen possibly is.....

Cullen had lots of chances at Warrington who were perrenial under-performers whilst he was there. Darrell Powell would have been a good replacement but unfortunately Cas got him. Glenn Morrison is a good up and coming coach so who knows if Agar doesn't get the best out of the team? He has that history with Wakefield aswell.
I'd rather we stick with Richard Agar though and give him a chance to coach his team. He has brought in some good players (on paper) this year despite a lower budget.
Over his tenure Wakefield overall have played some attractive rugby despite the 80 minutes of rubbish last Thursday.
Just hope he learns the lessons of the Bradford match & 'quick turn around' rugby and considers squad rotation aiming for those winnable games, especially in the pack.
Most importantly the next time on 18/4/14 against Cas at Home (absolute best 17) and then 21/4/14 with Huddersfield away (put out the second string). If we are not competitive in the pack for the full 80 mins then we have no chance. There is no excuse as I think he has the depth in the forwards to do it.
