My personal opinion is that the attendance given on Sunday was correct. Some of the attendances announced previously may or may not have been accurate. |

As I understand it the fee paid is the players wagers for the remainder of his contract, that's why I'd assumed TS was on seventy grand multiplied by the two years left on his contract, the new chairman did say it was a six figue fee. |

Don't think the transfer fees have anything to do with any of the players salaries. The length of time left on the contract might give us a little more bargaining power but thats all, its ultimatley about the guys ability and worth to the clubs. |

The thing to factor in with both Smith and Amor is that we have saved 3 months wages on them also.
In Tim's case I would guess that equates to a saving of somewhere between £20k and £25k. In Amor's case I would guess somewhere around the £10k mark.
I know that is not exactly funds raised but it is a big chunk of savings.

Does that apply in all sport then? Was Gareth Bale contracted to Spurs for the next 20 years, or was he already being paid £400k per week with 4 years left on his contract?????
Whilst it will have a bearing, I wouldn't have thought this was the basis for calculating transfer fees. |

Sorry, what I meant was just because a player has, say, 2 years left on his contract and earns 80K a year then he isn't going to go for a tranfer fee of 160K. Salary levels come into the negotiations obviously as it affects what a buying club can afford to pay for a player and whether the selling club needs them off the wage bill. As you say its a combination of things, other Vince Mellars would be worth the best part of 100 grand!

Fwiw. Rangi Chase's contract was worth £400k+. And we got £112'500 for him. And on that basis. I'd doubt Smith pulled in £140k also.
But I'm only presuming.

Youve saved 3 months of smith wage as that was an immediate transfer. Is Amors an immediate one or for next year?. Havent seen it stated either way anywhere. |

Be interesting to know whether that is the case. We know Smith went immediately, but then Salford could fit him under their salary cap. But can Saints fit two months of Amors contract under their cap? Has his wage come straight off our books and onto theirs or is it next seasons transfer and we will be paying him until november? |
