You do realise that the more you defend the club - at all times and without question - the less your credibility appears? We ALL support this club, but that doesn't mean we can't question it or its employees, in fact I think it's right to question when we think something is wrong!'"

Quote: Adam_Harrison9 "Tbf, I think with the signing of Tuson (who is obviously not being paid peanuts) and Tautai it should dispel the idea that there's a lack of money at the club. We wouldn't be making these signings when we have a surplus of second rowers, we'd just play the youth like Walshaw/Cowling. I don't doubt we've got a tight budget but that doesn't mean the club has any financial difficulties. It's all wild speculation but if you think about these signings and the special offers on for the London game, they wouldn't be happening if the club needed cash desperately. Chill out.'"

Thats a very naive way of thinking.

Think back a couple of years. A club had just signed such overseas luminaries as Shane Tronc, Daryll Millard and Ben Jeffries on healthy contracts. Midway through that season they brought in further players such as Julien Rinaldi and Charlie Leano. This is despite publicy having cash flow issues the previous close season which lead to a little problem with the HMRC that was swept under the carpet quickly (sound familiar?). Anyway just a few months later that club went into administration despite receiving a £165,000 boost from a generous benefactor and very nearly disappeared forever.

Any ideas who that club was? And for a bonus, who was its chief executive?

A little piece of history repeating? Lets hope not, all the rumours are false and the clubs owings all get paid PDQ. But don't ever think that because a club gets new staff it is doing fine, it means nothing.

For instance bob down to Thornes park and you'll see the ducks look graceful floating on the water, but underneath it is flapping like hell to appear to stay upright and moving forward. But it can't keep it up forever and eventually it runs out of energy and has to rest on dry ground otherwise it would sink. Its then eveything is exposed and all of a sudden things look a little more unstable. And thats us and I hasten gto add we are not alone. We and others have to put on a show that nothing is wrong. It doesn't mean that that is the case.

Salford squad for tonight:

Broughton
Gibson
Gleeson
Gaskell
Foran
Ashurst
Dixon
Wild
Godwin
Mauro
James
D Williams
Fages
Sneyd
McGoldrick
McPherson
Griffin
A Walne
Emmitt

I have to say that on paper, we look far better than this 19, it's just a case of taking it to them and not inviting them into our half with penalties and too many unforced errors.
Same effort as last week with a bit of magic from Ali and Timmy, job done icon_razz.gifRAY:

Gaskill and Gleeson worry me. We need to shut them down early.
I think our forwards are good enough.....last week's effort was good enough for this week again.
Unfortunately Salford have started picking up form with the odd blip.
We have the potential to give them confidence like we did Cas.

Need to be on our game for this one.

We already have.

I'll always support the team and have spent fortunes on the club, over the years including sponsorship. But I won't support a management team that, despite well meaning, are not up to the job and bills don't get paid. Sorry if that doesn't sit well in your lovely fluffy little world.

Anyway its game day, good luck to the boys tonight. Its a must win game, we could really do with that 8th spot again.

I hope you're right Al.
It's definitely a game we CAN win, but I thought that about the Cas game too!

The Cas game looked winnable up until our second half collapse at KR, at which point it took on a whole new complexion.
Hopefully on the back of a decent performance last week against Wigan and their mauling by Warrington, if we can cope with the first 10-15 minutes (where they will be busting a gut), then we should be able to put them to bed.

Salford squad looks pretty much as good as they can pick so given our current form its going to be a close one and probably high scoring. But for the sake of our season it is win or bust, we are going into the game 6 points behind Saints in 8th. The next two games have to be wins or its season over.

You call it naive, I call it logical. It's a different owner now and given the (lack of)transparency of sports clubs' finances we have no other option than to trust Glover. Unless you think debating about finances you know nothing about is going to get you anywhere?

With the form we're in I've been worrying about every game no matter who we play and this is no different. We need to start where we left off at Wigan. An 80-minute performance would be nice. Tthe most important thing is we play smart rugby.

The Salford team looks alot stronger than ours on paper, they have some excellent players, Snyd always plays well against us, Gaskill, Gleeson, Griffin etc can all cause us problems. Salford were very unlucky not to win the game at Belle Vue, they were the much better side that day. We have to be at our very best to compete tonight. We will see in the first few minutes if our lads are up for it. Fingers crossed.

Our biggest or at least most effective attacking weapon at the moment is Collis. Nede to get him ona one on one as often as we can.
