Great news. The sleeping giant is slowly coming out of slumber.Wakefield Trinity were always my 2nd team when I was a boy.that team 1959-1964 was brilliant.I remember about 1962 they came to Barley Mow to play Bramley, and we all went straight from school ,ko was about 4.30.All them stars were there,it was something like Barcelona playing at Farlsey celtic.Kick on from here Wakey, and if Newmarket is finished before Headingley is redeveloped, please dont jump on the bandwagon like other clubs with new grounds, having a dig at old headingley

Quote: deeHell "Excellent news, I must admit I was getting a little worried with the wait. I wonder if anyone could shed any light on possible legal challenges. From what I read on twitter that now it's been rubber stamped the opposition have 2 months to mount a challenge?'"

There is a 6 week statutory period in which a challenge can be made. This is standard on all planning consents so its not unique to Newmarket.

The decision, as it has been through a Public Inquiry, cannot be challenged. Only the actual process can be challenged and as a Public Inquiry was undertaken by HM Planning Inspectorate who will have followed the laid down procedures I very much doubt if the process will be challenged.

A challenge would I believe have to be made in the High Court so anyone making a challenge has to have plenty of cash and more importantly be certain that a point of procedure was not followed or breached which as I have said is not likely.

I think we can all be satisfied that this hurdle has been cleared.

I notice paragraph 3 confirms that the SOS received representation from Clr Wakefield and Stuart Golton from Leeds council in July. This representation is not included in the decision letter but is available if a request is made in writing. I know that Clr Wakefield is a local clr for Methly and leader of Leeds council. Who is Stuart Golton ? is he a Methly Clr.
It would be good to get a copy of their representation and let the voters in Methly who supported the development know exactly what their Clrs were up to, it would also be good to know if this representation included any reference to the Cas letter dated 14 Nov 2011 to Barton Willmore.

I will request copies from the SoS office.

Cllr Golton is a Lib Dem for Rothwell & Oulton... he will probably be gone soon as Lid Dems are a dying breed these days!

Fantastic news after so many years of plans in various locations all failed at last we have real hope that the dream can this time be delivered congratulations and a huge thank you to all the people who have put so much time and effort in to this project you should be proud that the hard work looks like it will now deliver a stadium that all Wakefield fans can be proud of.

Here is a copy of the letter they sent.

Isn't it great how they are just so concerned about WTW and the 'deliverability' of the stadium complex! They clearly just have the best interests of the fans and the wider Wakefield public at heart!!!

What a load of horse-crap!

www.keepandshare.com/doc/view.ph ... 99770&da=y

This letter is nothing more than a prime example of attempted political gerrymandering at it's very best. This is two local Cllr's who are ultimately only interested in one thing... themselves! They spent 2 weeks telling the inspector how they didn't object to the stadium, just the enabling development and all they have now done is show their true motivation... self preservation. It also shows a complete lack of any in-depth knowledge of the whole issue. This letter is dated the 30th July, TWO months after the LDF Inspectors report was received, which effectively removed the whole Newmarket B8 development site out of Greenbelt! Yet they don't even deem this worthy of a mention in 7 page letter and just conveniently ignore this major factor and the four year public consultation it was subjected to!!!

What a pair of jokers!

Excellant News - Well Done all the hard workers on the project.
I still have my hopes up that the Tigers are going to make a decision on carrying out with the stadium or re-develop soon.
RL has to move forward not backwards, hope you can keep moving forward with this project ! Again well done you hard working lot. icon_cheers.gif
