| I think it would be a disaster for Cas if they went to Newmarket, because I don't think they would attract nearly as big a support as Wakey, as the fans would know that they are playing in Wakey's stadium, regardless of what they call it. Which would mean that come franchise time, the RFL could make an exact comparison against another team from the same district, and I am not sure Cas would come out of it well. Also, the increased attendance for Wakey would mean more money, which would attract the best players, because when both teams play out of the same place, what is there to compare against for the players.
So if Cas go to Newmarket, they will always be the poor relations.
As for Wakey, it makes no difference. We are going there regardless of Cas, and so our gain is minor (reduced rent?).
I don't reckon Ferres will think like that, and I wouldn't be surprised if the meeting is to sell the notion of Newmarket to the fans, with a doomsday scenario if they don't go.

If Cas went to share a community stadium at newmarket with the wildcats surely they would have cash from the sale of WR to fund a team, pay off debts and a bit more left over to pay rent putting them in a good position to deffo satisfy even the RFL incompitant management.

Agree, the target market is pretty sizable and with a move to a new stadium along with a constantly improving side, with the right marketing and community work we should be aiming for 10k crowds imo, it's going to take time but I see no reason why it isn't achievable.

It wouldn't last forever though, and by then, your support will have dwindled. A proud town club no longer playing in the town. There is just the risk that it will be obvious which is the bigger club when you can make an exact comparison. It may be that splashing the cash can get over the hurdle for the first few years, by putting a winning team on the park, and by then franchising will be dead anyway.
I got the impression pretty quickly from Ferres that Glasshoughton was dead in the water, and so I think that will be the sales pitch, Newmarket or bust. He will take you out of the town, and then with his short attention span, he'll be off somewhere else.

I agree Slugger - it would be a total disaster for Cas Tigers. If Ferres presents the hard sell to the fans tonight and a move to NM is mooted there will be a mass walk out.

| I don't think anything about the ground will be mentioned at Cas' meeting tonight, until the project gets the final ok there is no point. But once it does expect Ferres to start letting the info out slowly that it is a likely option.

Growth is all well and good, but some growths should be excised and NOT grafted on - the graft would run the risk of rejection anyway.

Depends how much of that cash goes to Jack Fulton who wants out and his money back (so I was told by someone quite close to all of this).

Knocking up £2m I'm lead to believe. The ground can't worth much more than £5m, that doen't leave a lot to fund a new stadium that will cost in the ball park off £15m! Dicky Wright lead them a merry dance for years. Hopefully for them Ferres will lay it on the line and be honest with the fans.

Jack Fulton doesn't want out. He will hand over to his son Ian Fulton who has recently been elected to the BOD.

Not what I heard, but you are probably closer to the situation than me so I hope you're right to be honest.
Our rivalry with Cas is one of the best bits (or sometimes worst bits!) of being a Wakey fan, I certainly wouldn't want to lose it.
