Even if it were just for another season it really would show that we mean business when it comes to keeping our better players

That said we won't be able to keep them all and although I'm not one of the fans on here who is 'in the know' on his deal it seems we are doing everything we can to keep him

That for me with everything else mr glover is doing is enough

Rome wasn't built in a day icon_smile.gif

Quote: bren2k "I think for some, certainly for me, there's a principle at stake here, not just the services of an extremely promising young laiker; we need to end the perception of WTW being easy pickings for other SL clubs, so if we've been able to see off Mr Pearson in this instance, perhaps that's the tide starting to turn.

I'll be ovver t'moon if this proves to be true.'"

I agree, we won't win em all but a line in the sand is a start. Also helps he's the sort you could build a future pack around. He may or may not be world class in the future, only time will tell. However he's Trinity class and some already so he will do for me.

Quote: Fritzys Mullet "The Ellis saga did drag, but it was the off season so im not sure if it just felt like it was longer than it actually was???

Going back to the days before the t'internet and forums, as a youngster i was far more excited about the promise of Laurie Daley coming. To the point that i requested for Xmas one of the character t/shirts the club had printed a little prematurely. Alas i was to be dissapointed. I know im going back a while, but is there anybody out there who has the said t/shirt??

Really hope Kyle see's the light!'"

I remember the excitement when Daley had apparently "signed" for us. That was before the days of internet forums and I never found out why it fell through? Did he break a gentleman's agreement and was offered a better deal back home?

I also never got the story behind the headlines as to why Mark Graham left? It all seemed a bit sudden and I couldn't find any explanation. The fact that he took Brent Todd back with him did ease the blow for me icon_wink.gif

Anyone care to enlighten me? These thoughts have often crossed my mind for many a year.

Back on topic, fingers crossed Amor will stay. He's the youngest of the three mentioned and certainly has the brightest future.

Something at the back of my mind is telling me Daley either suffered an injury or Canberra made a late surge for play offs?? Could be completely wrong tho??

I think only Mark Graham knows why he left - it was a quick move back to the southern hemisphere. He looked good at first but didn't seem to want to take the responsibility that goes with the big reputation. Brent Todd had supposedly all the attributes to become a good player but in all the matches he played I saw him break only one tackle -I think the opposing player slipped or had a heart attack!
Out of all that came a shining light in Steve Ella who stuck with the team and had a good season.

Thanks sandaltrinityfan. I was still a teenager at the time and have been trying to find out what "the truth" was ever since.

Mark Graham left the club because they got rid of the usless Brent Todd and it didnt go down well with him.Steve Ella said at the time "we dont need them and can do it with out them" and as sandal said he had a very good season.

I thought Ella's season came to an early finish due to a career ending injury. He was a mighty good player though and great to watch. I remember his warm ups pre-match. He did bigger and better stretches than Russian ballerinas!

My understamding of why Mark Graham left was because he had 'split' with his wife and he had left his family down under. Basically he was at the other side of the world and missing his children.

Think Ella buggered his shoulder and went home towards the back end of the season, would love to watch him again, oozed class.

One of the most skillful players I've seen wear a Trinity shirt but I thought he went back to Aus early due to injury and retired shortly afterwards? He had very distinctive bow legs but had a fantastic side step and seemed very quick.
His game against Wigan at home where Wakefield came back from being about 18:0 down in the first half and winning something like 26:20 was a real classic. Graham also had a fantastic game that day and Wigan couldn't stop him.

Gone O/T a bit here chaps, but here some wikistats:
Parramatta 156 1980–1986
Wigan 23 1986–1987
Wakefield 4 1989
Not sure they're accurate!?!?!?

Back on topic, strong rumours suggest we don't need anyone to replace Amor icon_wink.gif

Played more than 4 for us. Heritage site will know. I'll ask.

One of the most skillful players I've seen in a Wakefield shirt. He really will be in my all time overseas team but as with Parramata I'd move him to centre or Full back to accomodate a less versatile Stand off. (Mr Lewis this time instead of Mr Kenny.
