Quite the opposite; frozen grass will only cause injuries like that in the winter months, hence the move to summer rugby. The plastic pitch looks set to cause them year-round - time will tell.

With this ipitch, I now say sod em, let the Widnes fans be in denial. At the end of the day there the ones that have to play on it every other week, they’ll suffer more than anyone.

I'll listen to the players who played on it rather than someone who hasn't. The players who played on it have complained about it, to the extent that we lodged a complaint to the match commissioner at half-time. When one of your own players complained about it on Twitter, until he was told to wind his neck in, you know you have a problem.

I've no issue with whether it is plastic or not, because it made for a fast game, but if it isn't suitable, it isn't suitable.

As people have said, we have to play on it just once a year. You've got it every other week and then have to readjust to grass for the away games.

Are we all even looking past the point that it was absolutely freezing out there which I'm pretty sure wouldn't aid prevention of skin 'injuries'.

I saw them and had to laugh. Some of those complete idiots would have you believe they used to play on pitches made of concrete covered over in broken glass and brass tacks with the lines marked out with napalm!
