| NZ were gash, more like a Sunday morning side than the team that won the comp last year!

Bit harsh on us, that. I thought our pack was immense. Just bullied them off the park.

| I was just pleased that i managed to watch it live here in the states
hadn't realised Fox sports was showing the 4 nations until I turned it on last week to see the interviews at end of Aussie game. Really looking forward to watching final next week and hoping this means they might show super league games next season

| Yes NZ didn't play well but I think that was mainly down to us not giving them a inch and when they tried to gain a little momentum in the second half we quickly put a halt to it and pulled away from them. He may be a little get but there's no denying the more you watch Tompkins the more he impresses you, they all played well today, should have maybe scored more points in the first half but still.

You can only play whats in front of you, sadly NZ are a shadow of the side they were, attacking rugby was almost non existent from them, and at times the only game plan they had appeared to be smash up tomkins and rattle chase.
I thought in parts we played very well, as I did last week, but NZ have gone backwards and Aus never got out of third gear.
If Aus are up for the final, I fear a drubbing, but at least we made the final, if I was a New Zealander I would be hugely concerned as to what's gone wrong!!

| So if we do beat the Aussies they too will have gone backwards?
No credit will be given to England?
I am afraid there is no pleasing some people.

Give over!
We played as well yesterday as we did the week before, but this time the bounce of the ball and a couple of 50-50 calls went for us instead of against us. We look as good as the Aussies based on the last 2 games we have both played - and we have a real chance of beating them next week if we perform again.
Our pack was immense and very professional, they bullied them from the start and never let benji get a look in, and when they started to try and goad us we didn't rise to it as we had them beat where it counted.
Anybody would think you wanted us to fail, weren't you one of the posters who seemed to take some sort of pleasure in what some thought was a poor crowd last week and also that we got beat? Shame you can't go on a McNamara rant, or a RFL rant, or a expansion is crap rant cos the best team one last night and we seem to be making strides at international level, still - suppose you can trot out the old range chase rant.....
You're English (I presume) and a rugby league fan, and the English Rugby league team has just well beaten the world chaps, ergo you should be proud as punch like the majority of us are........

Agree the Kiwis looked a well beaten side last night and before we get carried away these are the first choice Kiwis that missed out on the tour through injury!
Josh Hoffman (Brisbane), Lance Hohaia (Vodafone Warriors), Sam Rapira (Vodafone Warriors), Matt Duffie (Melbourne), Sam Perrett (Sydney Roosters), Shaun Kenny-Dowall (Sydney Roosters), Frank-Paul Nuuausala (Sydney Roosters), Greg Eastwood (Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs) and Bronson Harrison (Canberra) plus Vatuvei, Matai and Johnson. Frank Pritchard unavailable and Inu also withdrew.

| Whichever way you want to look at things, we had a magnificent win against the reigning world champions and 4 nations champions.
England deserve all the credit for THE best performance from an England team for many, many years.
Once again the ref bottled it and Tompkins should have had a much better level of protection from the guy in charge.
Well done boys

| I agree we did play as well as the week before, but we were up against far weaker opposition than the week before, that's why we won.
NZ have been comfortably beaten by Aus twice in a few weeks and neither of those victories were particularly down to the Aussies being spectacular, in order to beat the World Champs.
IMO the Aussies have won all their games at a canter, we look ok (and better than I feared!) and the kiwis have hone backwards, IMO they aren't playing as a team or with a team plan, they offer little in attack and their defense is poor.
The point I was making was that if the Aussies get up for the final, we could get a whacking, nothing particularly controversial in that I don't think.
As for attendances, 42,000(?) is woeful for an international, I'm not sure how many were at the KC, but the media were hyping up a 20,000 attendance as something especially amazing, I don't think it is.

Or maybe we never let them get out of a canter. I thought we dominated the Aussies for a lot of the game and knocked them off their stride. The difference was how clinical they were once they got within twenty metres of the tryline, and how we weren't.
I know it could be another false dawn, but I have seen two very impressive performances from a side and coach that I didn't expect anything from.
