If every other wage stated on our other forum was true we would be spending well over 2 million, you shouldn't believe everything you read on forums, even if it suits your particular agenda, how many people said wakey would defiantly lose there franchise?

Scared of what? icon_confused.gif

Scared of what? Us.... Our ascent under Glover.... The way we are reinvigorating support (& selling tickets)...

Take your pick.

My original point being that it's better to spend wisely and spread the money around, rather than pay over the odds (Chase) or tie people onto ridiculously long contracts (Goldy) in order to persuade them CT is the best option- which leave you scraping together the Griffin's of the world!

Keep on going your way mate, it's clearly going swimmingly.

Maybe scared that wakefield are recruiting better than cas and will have a better squad come the start of superleague. Just a thought!! How many cas fans thought they were losing their franchise aswell, i know of quite a few, that said looking forward to the derby games and wakefield winning!!!

It came from the player he wants to sign for the club...naturally after he is unemployed after mid November....Agar wants him...but at the moment we as a club cant fit him into the salary cap.

What that salary cap means is anyones guess,it could mean the full salary cap...i doubt that very much.
I would imagine it meant that Glover has said we have X amount to spend this season on players wages and at the moment we have reached that limit so therefore we can not sign Dowes.

If I remember rightly there was an article in the WE with Agar where he said about balancing the books and trying to get what was the right balance and player structure to fit within the clubs budget and this he is clearly trying to do.

Like all managers in whatever sport when they take over a new club they want to put their own stamp on prooceedings and they will not like all players already contracted to the club and players will naturally move on.

I believe DOWES will sign but contracted player/s will have to leave for this to happen.

Quote: G.Price Fan Club "Get them at the right price to start with and then the potential of the player could enable their own contract to grow with our budget over the next few years.

Take Tim Smith as an example, He wanted £X, we offered £X-10k on a one year deal, if he impresses early on he will be in a position to command £X possibly £X +10/20k in his contract extension, which we will be able to reward him with & (most importantly) accommodate responsibly under our growing budget.
'"

Problem with that approach is that by only offering one year deals you run the heavy risk that, if the player in question impresses, he buggers off to a bigger club at the end of the year rather than re-signing with you guys.

Really? I was thinking it was maybe a case of AG's cash arriving too late to be used productively in a picked-over player market so it was decided not to spend so much of it.

I personally believe that wakefield will finish higher in the table than cas, we seem to be recruiting well and signing players that will do a job for us.

Lets face it the new super duper cas signing was .............
Rangi's new contract!!! Nowt against the guy but there were a lot of cas fans dissapointed at it not being a new signing.

Cas are meant to have the planning in place funds etc so why hasnt the glasshoughten development been completed originally they were going to be in for the 2008 season. Unless im mistaken the ground is not even started to be built yet.

Wakefield on the other hand are developing belle vue till we know what is happening with the goverment review.

My point is why do cas fans think they are the only team in the wakefield district that deserve a place in superleague, bring up administration etc whenever they post on here that is in the past my friends lets look to the future.

Yes but at least if you've got him tied down for a few years you get something out of it. One year deals have their place, but as a general policy it means all you are is a shop window for the bigger clubs and a stepping stone for the better players.

I havent brought up admimistration or said you dont deserve to have a sl team icon_confused.gif i was pleased when you stayed up.

As for the teams your going to have to get some decent props in, hope your injury prone back row stays fit, be the first team to make tim smith a decent defender, get a a largely new team to gel quickly and pray you dont get many injuries to your back line to stand a chance of finishing above us. And you your going to have to do it with a coach that struggled to get above us with a much better squad than what you have now, and with a team that was much more settled than what you have now.

Works both ways, equally could save you being lumbered with a player that doesn't give you much in return (McGoldrick?)
Also the rewards for selling a player under contract are hardly generous, so if a bigger club wants said player, they can still have them, but the selling club will make little profit after factoring in the higher wages that go with a longer contract.

Lets not get into a "mine is bigger than yours" comp yet guys. Our team has not played one game together yet. Cas haven't made lots of signing but they were ahead of us last year so lets be realistic, we are the ones catching up.
I do think we will do well.....but lets not start picking fights just yet. Lets get some performances on the board first.

Amen to that. The amount of dick measuring and bitching that takes places on these forums is getting very tiresome and quite frankly is more than a little sad.
