| i will add my thanks to john kear. there is no doubt in my mind that there wasn't another coach available who would have kept us up, so for that alone we all should be grateful.
however as we all know we have been on a rollercoaster. the senior management of the club during the kear era was poor, but we battled through. kear was in charge through probably the most eventful period in any club history. the untimely and greatly saddening losses of adam, leon and terry were all handled well by the man in charge of our team, and there are not many coaches who i would have the confidence in to get through that.
but, this year especially, our tactics have become easily read and quite boring to watch. we are making the same mistakes again and again (especially in our fringe defense) and nothing is getting sorted.
a change of coach will be good for both parties, but we will struggle against cas now!!!

| Well well!
First of all
Thank you John
We were a club heading for relegation when JK came in, struggling to regather ourselves after the debacle of T Smith, he brought something with him and it took immediate effect and we survived.
The following years saw us reach the dizzy heights of 5th in the league, play off football, the emergence of a number of Academy products during an horrific injury hit season, a Challenge Cup Semi final and more play offs.
All this achieved with one hand tied behind his back due to the lowest salary spend in the SL.
John dipped into the lower divisions to find players who's potential seemed lost and others who's careers seemed over, Moore, Wilkes, Fox, Grix, Brough, Golden, all have reason to thank John Kear and Wakefield Trinity.
Through one of the saddest and most tragic periods of the clubs history JK stood out as a strong individual who orated the emotions of everyone involved with this club to the wider world. He did so with a sensitivity and compassion that were perfectly balanced by a professionalism and determination to play and win that honoured and respected the spirit of those past and present players we'd lost.
Even this year he's manfully got on with th the job, built a team and gained some wins. We've wrestled a begrudging respect from many because we wouldn't roll over and John has been central to that attitude.
He's not everyone's cup of tea but for most of his tenure he was the right man in the right place at the right time for Wakefield Trinity.
I don't blame him for looking at other jobs, no doubt he knew what was happening behind the scenes.
Like the saying goes,
"There are only two types of Managers
Those that just got sacked and those that are waiting to be sacked"
I think this is the right move for the club and for John Kear, so good luck John please don't come back to haunt us like you have Hull FC.
Short term I'd like to see us take applications from interested coaches but I think we probably need someone clued up from overseas. We need a new Manager with strong ideas about how to reconfigure our whole set up and the ability to instigate it.
We require someone who genuinely understands the sciences that drive modern day athletes and values those sciences. The new man (or woman ) must appreciate the rich Vein of junior talent that exists on our doorstep and must adopt policies that see Trinity benefit from that talent. Sustainable modern day systems that create pathways from scholarship to Academy to 1st team must be adopted, subscribed and adhered to.
Juniors are not a PR exercise or a box tick for the RFL, they are the most valuable resource we have and they should be treated as such. We need to create a reputation for being the best, recruiting the best, providing the best and offering the best to any junior, so much so that promising young players want to come to Wakefield Trinity.

However watching them play this season they are in most games a level above everyone else and are starting to remind me of past Wigan sides.'"
I suppose this is why I've enjoyed having Kear as the coach. He seems to imbue a sense of honour, dignity and sportmanship onto the way Wakey have played. Wakey's style under him has always been about the fans and the community; the players represent us, they funnel their's and our passion into their play and use that as energy.
As we've seen though you can't coach that for longer than three or four seasons before burning out. And, it will only take you so far in competitions because you have to assume a defeatist view that your backs are always against the walls and the odds are always against you.
Wakefield has always played more with passion and gutsy determination than anything. I hope whoever takes over can retain that, rather than sanitise it. I'd rather have a coach like Powell, who I can imagine doing that, rather than an NRL coach who will play a "dead behind the eyes" style strewn with chicken wings, grapples knees in tackles etc.

That's a very fair point but maybe now is the time to change for at least as long as it takes to win something. Most fans who attend nowadays have never seen us win a YC let alone one of the big two. We have waited and been too decent for too long now for me. I'd settle for anything that won us something, if that makes me shallow so be it
