Trevor Horn's masterpiece of pure pop perfection.
I play it every Saturday morning when I get up and pretend I'm a yuppie from 1982!

Yep I nearly went for that as my choice of early 80's polished pop (before it got to daft). I just felt Spandau Ballets True was a little more honest being mainly the band rather than the producers masterpiece.

Yet Dollars Hand held in black and white was the catalyst for it.
Amazing album.

The only decent album they made for me.
Most dissapointing albums of all time.
Stone Roses - The second coming
Oasis - third album can't remember what it's called now
felt really let down by them both, SR where always going to struggle with a follow up considering how good there debut was, Oasis should have gone the same way as SR going off what they released between WTSMG and Noel quiting.

Incredible when you think how much of the Stones/Beatles back catalogue there is still left for Noel to plunder

| Vast at the end of the day there are only so many chord progressions that work, everyone will sound like someone else mainly due to influences, I rather fancy that Noel stole more from the likes of Bolan and Glitter I certainly haven't heard anything by them that reminded me of the stones, the Beatles maybe but they have such a massive back catalogue there is every chance I could write a song today that would sound somwhere near to a beatles track. The thing I like abou Noel is he does not mind admitting that he had stolen chord proggessions and riffs from others, I couldn't see a problem with the 1st 2 albums they rocked, they had a familiar ring to a lot of the tracks but they where also part of that era, whenever I hear don't look back in anger, (which for the main part has the same chord structure to streets of London amongst others) I just think of those summers sat in the park, young, single and all my life ahead of me.

always thought the second coming was much underrated tbh, ignoring the first album it is still very good.
agree with alot already stated by Snatchunter, will add With Love & Squalor by We Are Scientists, A Certain Trigger by Maximo Park and Friendly Fires. Always liked Elastica by Elastica as well

I was joking however Lyla is Street Fighting Man with little or no attempt to hide it. The Beatles, Stones and especially Zepplin have ripped off others as have all bands. However they have all managed to stamp a certain amount of themselves on it and thus creating a new sound. Good though some Oasis stuff is they don't do that for me.
I think Oasis were lucky, they filled a vacuum in the mid 90's with a harder more guitar rock style that had been absent for years. In the 60's and 70's they would have been a mediocre rock band but in 1995 there was no real UK competition.
I get Oasis but there nothing special - sorry.
