Other than obtaining planning permission, no farther forward than they were 3/4 years ago.

Was it not due to be ready in 2005?

I have a feeling the club in Wakefield that we have looked into sharing with is Dewsbury as their ground could be easily made into SL standard by putting a tempary stand at each end.'"
Best look at your map Dewsbury's ground is not in wakefield. But it nearly is.
I said a while ago that wakefield could go to Dewsbury but I was there a few weeks ago and you could only put a temp stand up at the scoreboard end. And you would also need extra turnstyles and toilets.
The other end is massive but it dips downhill.
I can't see anything going on with Ossett town they are due to go down at the end of the season so will see a massive fall in gates.

"I can tell you the atmosphere was extraordinary at Wheldon Road on big days. The ground held around 15,000 people, every one of them close to the action on the field and the noise would be enough to send a rumble through the town" - Malcolm Reilly "Reilly - A Life in Rugby League":d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39793.jpg |

| Why no mention of the "Oakwell" option in the statement?
Is it still on the cards?

| Do Cas even have full planning permission? If not I don't see why [isome [/ifans are taking the moral high ground with regards to the development of their stadium versus ours.

If it's for WYW it will have lots of footage of cheerleaders in it.

NW has no guarantee of even getting past that hurdle and may never see the light of day.'"
At this moment in time and looking purely at the stadium build situation and not franchising, I would rather be in our position of trying to get planning than trying to raise £15,000,000.

| Does Wakey playing in Wakey and not Barnsley (financial implications) have any bearing on the Franchise application?

Well you could temporary stand BV for that matter with loads better hospitality available until NM comes on stream. Remember we cannot be ejected from BV until we have a stadium.

I'm not sure the Cas Stadium will cost that amount but who knows.
HoweverIf Yorkcourt get planning permission they may well re-assess their "commitment" to a New Stadium depending on the area of land available to develop, the state of the Industrial Real Estate market in a 18 months time, the state of the economy, and their ability to raise funds to let a contract to build a Stadium and construct the infrastructure required, before starting on any Industrial Units.
They may find themselves in the same situaution as Cas are supposed to be in now.
